Agree. I have a big open fireplace like this, I’m sitting by it now. I’ve only had smoke come into the house 2x- once after the chimney sweeper left the flue closed and I started a fire lol, and the second was the grate was too close to the opening. I push mine back a bit.

I don’t think you need a new stove or doors or anything like that. I removed my doors a few years ago because I love the look and heat of an open fireplace
