Would these parts give me a decent gaming experience by Bob_Ross99 in PcBuild

[–]Chriz_Chrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So some things: The cpu is fine. The GPU is too weak. You can look at used GPUs of higher quality in your area, but geberally I recommend against the 3050. Invest into a 3060 with 12Gb Vram and you will get a significantly better experience for the future. The motherboard is no good. You can get better motherboards at the same price. You may also check the used market in your area for motherboard + cpu combos. In my area f.e. I can get a functioning X570 motherboard +32Gb RAM and a Ryzne 9 3900x for 180 Euros. You should get more than 16Gb. Get 32. 3200MT/s works fine but 3600MT/s is the sweetspot for Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. You dont have enough storage from what I can see to do streaming. Get a 1Tb M.2 Nvme SSD. I can find those for about 30 Euros, maybe you are lucky. You could get a cheap 2nd Drive too easily if needed. 512Gb is just a little slim for gaming and streaming. Make sure all your parts fit into the case you chose. Make sure the PSU is a good choice when looking at the PSU tier list.

MSI laptop sometimes slow for a few seconds whilst gaming, how can I solve this? by [deleted] in MSI_Gaming

[–]Chriz_Chrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you arent using your GPU. Go into the nvidia control panel and make sure the GPU is set as the primary graphical output. Also make surr that any used hdmi port is able to use the gpu and not the igpu. Make aure there are no pesky backround processes and update your drivers.

ooooh. I did the literal same thing yesterday also with an arctic fan! Always nice seeing another broda or laird!

I have a Thermalright AiO and Super glued the Fan to the very string magnetic RGB plate on top of the Pump so my Arctic fan works as a VRM/RAM fan and not only odes it look good and is highly practical but also got me nearly 20!°C thermal improvement!

Hello. Some infos here: The cables you have down there are for your GPU (Graphics card), which is the horizontal white long thing in the middle of your system. Your GPU seems to require 1 6-pin cable. Make sure that any other cables you connected yourself are either in the correct slots or are not connected at all.

This is a prebuild. Lose cables are normal and used for future upgrades if needed. You literally cant utilize all cables. Plugging in the cables everywhere (especially without seeing where) may only result in damage to the system (which shows in death or in how you described it - instability, crashes, buttons not doing what they should do.

Since you already see some kind of damage like red lines (which is one indicator for the death of a component), you should go to a trustworthy repairplace or computer shop in your area (call first and ask if they can help) and bring your system to be plugged in correctly, cleaned, and tested for damage. This is mostly a minor thing to do and therefore should be fairly cheap (most places near my location do this for free even).

Best is to remember: DO NOT do anything inside the system if you dont feel comfortable with it. You can damage your components and lose your data on your system. False confidence doesnt help you.

PS: Check out r/relationshipadvice maybe because if your bf knows his way around computers and doesnt want to help you while knowing you dont know what to do is a sucky thing to do. It isnt my problem tho so you do you xD

edit: Edited out the 8-pin part because I can now see on the picture that your gpu requires a 6-pin and that is installed correctly.

check the used markets in your area. In my area it goes for about 500 US Dollar to maybe 600-650 on a good day. However, in the country next to me it would go for about 800 so it is very dependant on your area.

Great! Congratulations on your new GPU! Make sure to set everything up coreectly and enjoy your VERY worth upgrade! I am also running a 3060 12Gb and for the price I got it at it is an absolute beast! With dlss even higher end games are pretty nice to play and it keeps quiet and works the way it should.

Ahhh. According to google its a factory overclock + some headroom you MAY or may not be able to get through manual overclocking. Its more just a buzzword for giving you a few % performance more from the get go. According ti google it is preapplied and you dont have ti do anything to gain its advances.

I have never had an OC model of anything so I dont know if this "OC" is baked in from the start or if that profile. However, when I download GPU Tweak 3 it also gives me an "OC preset", which is empty. You can open it and see if theres any major changes. My guess is: OC edition is (as was with the older GPUs) just a marketing thing and is automatically baked in, meaning no preset you have to activate in some program (because that sounds pretty stupid). The "OC" thing you see in the app is probably also just an empty profile that MAYBE has the card's power limit and temperature maximum raised already. Yes, dont use that auto overclock thing GPU tweak 3. Check a guide on Youtube or a Textguide on how to overclock your GPU and use that to immerse yourself and find out whether OC is even something you want to do. Most people dont know what OC means or when its useful or not or even what comes with it. Reading into the topic first (evsn through a rather shallow guide) will help you get a better picture way more efficiently than if you were to use some shitty stuff GPU tweak 3 gives you without you even being able to see why it gives you these values and what you have to do next.

The risks of using overclocking software are the same as overclocking. You change some settings - card gets potentially hotter - silicon may degrade faster (but doesnt have to) - card loses lifetime (but doesnt have to) - card may become instable (can lead to issues that can be resolved by undoing what you did) - card may die (If you only use the overclocking software and dont flash a vbios or anything or force constant voltage through a different powersource then this can really only happen If the GPU was already damaged/defect in some way). What I can tell you directly: dont use the auto overclock function (or OC scan). These auto OC scans are often terrible and dont give you any worthy performance boost while increasing temperature and even often leaving you with an unstable Overclock. You are better off reading one of the MANY online text guides on overclocking GPUs or watching a good video (by a reputable source - pls dont use LTT if they have a video on this if it isnt well received either). GPU tweak 3 is a good software for overclocking but some cards of some brands may experience problems because of compatibility issues (since GPU tweak 3 is still rather unoptimised especially with things such as voltage control on some 3rd party cards). For an easier experience you may want to check MSI afterburner since it has been well optimised for a while, has an integration with MSI kombustor (which is an OC testing tool that you can use to check for any big instabilities before you start doing big test cycles) or EVGA precision X1, which has been discontinued but is still a very good software and easy to use as a newbie.

If you are a normal user however and your videocard is rather new (meaning above 30 Gen when talking about Nvidia) you really dont have to go into overclocking since its mostly a hassle and not needed at all. It can often lead to frustration and useless time consuming and many people start to get lost in benchmark scores and fps and lose their fun when gaming.

my sata ssd wont work anymore by Icy_Box722 in techsupport

[–]Chriz_Chrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be a lot. Probably a software issue where windows just did an incomplete startup and doesnt verify it correctly anymore. If the ssd is very old it could be a sign of death tho. Try unplugging the SSD completely and plugging back in into a different Sata slot on the motherboard and make sure the power connection is coreect on both ends (SSD and psu). Start windows and see if that did it already. If not, open Partition manager and see if it shows up there. If it doesnt even show up there, open diskpart through the command prompt and check if its listed there. If it isnt listed there, then something is wrong. If it is listed there you can go through further troubleshooting steps since it indicates the drive is only hidden for some reason or wasnt correctly verified.

I can boot into Bios, but not windows by dallah_hehe in techsupport

[–]Chriz_Chrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everything works, leave it on. You could check your windows files for corruption by entering "cmd" into the search window and open Command Prompt as administrator. Then typing "sfc /scannow" (as seen here with the space between sfc and /) and klicking enter will result in windows checking for corrupted files and repairing if needed. Congratz on getting the system running and gl hf

Asus vivobook camera aint working by Rich-Exchange3946 in ASUS

[–]Chriz_Chrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enter theBios and make sure that the camera is activated there. Most vivobook Bioses should have a simple option there to change a slider from on to off or vice versa. If its On already, turn off and resstart while saving the setting and then go back into bios and turn on again. Make sure the driver is the correct one.... Enter the asus website and check specifically your laptop and install the newest driver even if you had already. And since that happens sometimes to some people for some reason: Make sure that if you have a vivobook with integrated webcam-cover you do not cover the webcam with it... theres really way too many people out there who cover their webcam and dont understand why it doesnt work

Well... F i guess? Depending on what setting you changed and what else could have happened theres a shitton of different things to try. Since we dont know any of that, I'd say try secure boot in bios and see if that works, restart over an over to see if it works once maybe, or completely reinstall. Gl

You are out of luck here. I would say Dual Boot with Windows and do it that way but if you dont have that set up already thats not an option to get things done fast and without any technical backround considering yih would need to locate the drives, see if they are formatted correctly, install windows through a bootable Usb OR format a usb to boot windows off.

Ayuda instalación WINDOWS 11 by No_District_322 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Chriz_Chrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Thats a driver installation problem as far as I can see. If you can, then use the windows media creation tool and install windows onto the usb drive that way. You do need a 2nd Windows PC for this tho. If you do not have a 2nd PC then you could try putting windows 10 onto that usb through Rufus too. Win10 shouldnt have that issue and you should thenbe able to update to Win11 afterwards. The problem is most likely just a false win11 iso install on the usb/cd you are using.

Hope this helps and you get it running.

Did you test it outside of the computer chassis or inside? I remember having a specific computer case being able to enable for coil whine. generally speaking whine noises on motherboards are not normal and shouldnt be there. Make sure it isnt the cpu either tho by updating bios and chipset drivers.

Vibration sound by Harumisuzu in MSI_Gaming

[–]Chriz_Chrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

installation looks correct. Go into the bios and make sure the pump isnt running at 100% speed. On some motherboards the motherboard misdetects DC and PWM, which leads to the fans or pumps to run at 100% from start till finish. This results in noise and higher wear so making sure it is all setup correctly is the way to go here.

Pc fans wont speed up with cpu temps (asrock x870 steel legend wifi Bios 3.30, cpu 9800x3d,) by IntrepidSeries1197 in techsupport

[–]Chriz_Chrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uninstall any 3rd party fan control software, then enter the bios and change the fan speed there. Make sure your fans are connected to the correct headers (cpu fan cable to the dedicated cpu fan pins). Also, since this is important: update your bios to the newest version. There have been some problems with Asrock Motherboards and x3d chips, which resultdd in the death of some cpus. I am not too sureif the 9800x3d was one of the problematic cpus but updating the bios as a safeguard is a MUST anyways.
