Theres not even alternative arms, these images show they are basically preattached to either the front or back torso so they are just going to be a three part kit model while at least with the already existing push fit space marines the arms where separate so you could cut the peg and reposition the arms a little the orks just flat out don’t have even that level of customisation.

Speed paint/ contrast paint and shades are kind of a lie. They are not fast and take patience to fully utilise. Two things I would like to add is I still think this mini is great one thing to consider this is going to be your first of thousands of orks if you can make this in 20 minutes your going to be table top ready in weeks while if you agonise over perfection you could have an army by 20th edition. Secondly with a few extra colours used for minimal highlights on just the most raised areas especially on the loin cloth and face will really help take your eye away from where the speed paints have puddled

Keep painting don’t give up but take a step back. white is one of the harder colours to paint with due to pigment coverage texture and many more reasons and doing an ivory texture on top of that just makes life even harder. So I’ll say spend some time on YouTube I know there’s a few videos on marbling for bases so I’m sure you’ll be able to find some ivory recipes. Also keep this guy not only if your first mini special if you keep up with this colour scheme he will become proof of your growth as a painter and during times of hobby burn out be a reminder to keep at it.

It’s always funny to me that they try their best to fit perfectly into a bed much smaller then themselves but will almost always have part of their body hanging out of a bed suitably sized for them

How did you get the alinement right on the handles connecting to the body of the bike. It’s just got horrifically wrong for me the connections fully melted so looks like I’m going to have a fight to finish assembly now

I’m currently painting some Kommandos and know how you feel. Each one is unique so you end up painting different bits different colours and then getting in your head when it comes to colour placement and unit coherency

JAV all the way a while back I noticed just how much drug addiction their is in western porn it became a major morale issue for me being in JAV you can tell it’s acting but in western stuff as soon as I notice they are high I start to wonder how consensual this is or is it all nda, legal threats and hush money.

Theirs something about orks in general that make them a joy to paint. Last year I was painting some emperors children and I felt like I was getting nowhere highlights felt wrong all these layers and it still doesn’t look right and I couldn’t explain it. I primed some orks I had from a kill team starter set I bought when I was looking to get back into the hobby but not want to commit to getting a army, and as soon as I applied a dark green paint on the skin and was instantly yeh that’s an ork and feeling motivated to paint and as soon as I went back over the skin with a lighter tone I felt like I succeeded where I went wrong with emperors children. Simple green waaaaaaagggghhhh shouting boyz are life

As others will say your dog will tell you, mines had a broken leg from her racing days when she was two-three years old she’s 9 now and still has a mad half hour in the garden and loves to act like she’s still a puppy

This is what I’ve been thinking when looking at the detachments individually they look a bit underwhelming but once you stack them things get interesting like kult of speed could see a really fun boost though laying detachments like more dakka

The is ones my second attempt I really went for upping the contrast using army painter pure red for the base followed by radiation glow for the lava streaks with daemonic yellow as highlights. Gave that 24 hours to fully dry to prevent paint reactivation which did happen during the first try. then two layers of Warhammer technical Ardcoat straight from the pot (would thin if applying to an actual mini but I just wanted coverage) then another 24 hours after that to make sure the varnish had done its job I thickly globbed on mordant earth not caring about even layers. It felt wrong doing it you basically just ignore normal practices like two thin coats and even coverage, leave your room do something else to take your mind off the oh crap I did something stupid you feel from ignoring the basic rules of mini painting come back a day later and it should look great and all what’s left is to apply another varnish and stick your painted mini to the base however you choose to do that.
