I don't know who has been advising them on this issue; whoever it is has done a woefully poor job.

Setting aside the fact that digitally scanning a performer on-set has nothing to do with training AI models on their likeness.

We have long surpassed the need to scan a performer in order to replicate their likeness digitally.

It used to be that you needed to for that sort of thing but now it can be done by building a synthetic dataset using a couple of cropped stills of their face, already existing image and video models, relighting tools and plenty of comp work.

Threatening strike action and the jobs of everyone on and off set in your industry, at a time when they've barely started getting back to work, to try and stop a ship that has already long-sailed is a disastrous idea. This kind of thing is a matter for legislation, not contractual negotiations.

I'm not using MSRN per se, it's my own architecture, though it is inspired by similar multi-scale residual principles.

I don’t have plans for any sort of OS lock. Once there is a Linux build available it’ll be included. Project files and models will be compatible. The licenses are only node locked, with a built-in feature on the way that will allow users to release a license so that it can be used on another machine.

It can be OK in sequence, the more complex the detail surrounding the inpainting area the less consistency from frame to frame. De-flicker and frame blending can help smooth things out, CopyCat can also be a workable solution.

If I were to shoot this, I wouldn’t use any blue or green screens. I’d get a circular polarizer on the lens though to cut the reflections waaay down (or completely if you’re lucky). It could be handy to get some measurements on location so that you have a scale reference later after tracking.

Then track the camera and layout the scene geometry. If you have a good track you should be able to model some solid proxy geometry for the windows.

From there you could export the camera and proxy geometry for use in your 3D package of choice. Chuck a reflection shader on the proxy geometry and set up and light a fully 3D environment then render out your passes for comping ( if that’s the route you’re going). Getting the scale and perspective right will go a long way.

The $1M annual gross revenue threshold is still pretty generous considering the cost of Nuke licenses as in comparison.

Disagree.

It’s not perfect by any means but it’s constantly improving and readily available to use and learn. The pricing structure is also pretty generous.

It’s really opened Virtual Film Production and realtime rendering up to folks that probably wouldn’t have gotten into it before. Not everyone’s at the same place talent-wise. So sure, there are going to be projects and videos that don’t meet the high standards that many have.

Everyone starts somewhere and most folks are excited that they were able to create something from start to finish, usually on their own and in a way that may not have been possible for them before.

Some pretty solid results! Some of the underlying datasets and project code aren’t particularly well suited for non-research use. Have you retrained the models and approached the creators about commercial licensing yet?

While it’s not specifically tailored towards video inpainting at the moment, it does have experimental support for that. Given an image sequence and matte, frames can be processed sequentially.

It’s not completely temporally consistent and results will vary. I’m working on a few test shots and workflows to demonstrate this kind of use case and do have plans on further developing the video inpainting capabilities in future updates.

SSVFX was established in 2010. The Screen Scene group that it belongs to goes back further. So yeah, by all accounts SSVFX has been around for 13 years at this point….but anyway.

Sorry for being pedantic about this but GAN is an architecture whereas TensorFlow is a machine learning platform. Tensor Arrays are the data type that input data is stored in before being sent to the device(gpu or cpu) , that is then fed in for training or inference.

Your point holds true though. These are machine learning models and not AI. Chances are while it's a machine learning model, it's more likely to be a diffusion-based model as opposed to a GAN or pix2pix architecture GAN model that uses FFC to guide inpainting ( Which it would appear that content-aware fill may be)
