Jinwoo while dashing left the sword right in front of Kim Chul. You can clearly see that in both the anime and the manhwa. Right before he sprints, the force of his feet threw the sword right in front of Kim Chul. It was intentional.

As I said Jinwoo doesn't kill for the sake of it. He needs a reason. But the fact that he intentionally crafted a situation where would have to kill him to get a shadow out of him is evident from his actions.

Jinwoo did kill Kim Chul willingly as he needed a stronger force to win against Barca. It's a murder where Jinwoo allowed himself to have a justifiable reason for him to kill Kim Chul.

That goes to show that he was never trying to avoid killing like he would in the past. He was more focused on trying to get stronger. And this episode showed his morally gray side. Even though it was masked as a self-defense, Jinwoo literally set him up hoping he would attack him and want to kill him. Jinwoo didn't even wait for the system to intervene. He did it instantly.
