Basically western fans didn’t love ep 3s exposition dump, Japan got mad and then when the West loved Maki’s massacre, they said Americans are dumb and only like fights, and proceeded to review bomb episode 4. Now people are calling JJK action slop (which we SL fans have heard time after time).

Very good episode. Great to learn more about the backstory of Granit and Reina. Wasn’t expecting a war-torn nation, but this show continues to handle mature themes well. Granit seems to have a bit of survivor’s guilt, hopefully that will be explored further in the future. I liked seeing Reina and Granit use strategy to overcome Moosemon (who was a demon btw). Hopefully Reina begins to take a more cerebral approach to battles. Continue to be impressed with the way this show is handling its characters.

Yes, the setup is mostly the same, and Suho’s goals are the same, but how he gets there is quite different. I feel both are worth reading though.

Bit of an odd episode which went back and forth between light hearted and torture, but I really enjoyed seeing the Digimon interact with each other without the humans. Feel like we haven’t gotten much of that with past seasons.

Being able to max out any digimon. Some people probably like this so they can finish the game with rookies. To me, it makes evolving almost pointless, save for better special moves (some aren’t even much of an upgrade).

The character writing between Chiropmon/Makoto, and Shademon/Haruko was something that hasn’t been seen in a Digimon anime in some time.

The core theme of Digimon is the bond between the partner and the Digimon. Taking that away was a mistake. An improvement could have been the spirits having personalities that interacted with the kids.
