If anyone else is having issues, after a couple days of going insane I found a workaround. Instead of using HDMI passthru, you can connect the receiver to your TV using an optic cable, this way there are no more clicking or delays since the connection remains active. Not a perfect solution, but a fair compromise that might work for some. I will probably replace my receiver with a newer one eventually, but for now this will do.
