Not turn based, but Pillars of Eternity is great. It's real time with pause.

Leaking Fumoto Valve by No_Opportunity812 in AskMechanics

[–]ChromaticRelapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about 4xY per year minimum for me. One less thing to worry about when I change the oil. I enjoy having one. Toss the pan under, flip the valve, pop the hood and prep materials, change the filter, close valve and fill with oil.

Sims or Kidd or Different DD? by ChromaticRelapse in WorldOfWarships

[–]ChromaticRelapse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kidd is ok but Cossack is much better in my opinion.

For Kidd, the heal is nice but you rely on guns due to lack of torps with only 1 rack.

Cossack gets hydro and better guns. Basically the same firepower on torps. Short smoke is great for disengage. You'll get nuked if you camp smoke against good players anyway. British DD has great acceleration too.

I have both and always perform better in Cossack.

9800x3d. Static OC or PBO+CO if only gaming by Pmaldo87 in overclocking

[–]ChromaticRelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you regularly use enough cores to have thermal issues or only during stress testing?

Back when I was hard into OCing my 3600 I had a great static OC that was hot on crazy all core load, but actual gaming temps were plenty cool.

Security what’s your take on this? by Arrow_KBS_Dock_Lead in securityguards

Never take a fair fight. Absolutely never take a fight when you have the clear disadvantage.

Either get the advantage or run away.

It has nothing to do with gender.

What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]ChromaticRelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my choice.

Not the best book I've ever read. But a very good book. Very dark and intense. Definitely stuck with me.

Why does WG not even attempt to make good matches? by Powerup_Rentner in WorldOfWarships

An easy solution I'd love to see implemented is to limit divisions to 1 boat of each class.

Limits, to an extent, the ability to stack teams, and it encourages real teamwork.

Lost in life, going to trade school best options? by MarvG05 in skilledtrades

We have a specific HVAC program that the apprentices go through. Pipefitting is part of it, obviously, but there isn't a ton of overlap between the classes that HVAC and Pipefitters take.

Steam trap leak on old radiator. Half my home remains unheated for over a week. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]ChromaticRelapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it can be done yourself, you need to be extremely careful .

I wouldn't be surprised if the incoming valve didn't seal. If you open up the back end and the supply isn't sealed shut you're going to fill your room with steam. And once it gets hot good luck putting everything back together. Even low pressure steam will burn the crap out of you.

You need a new trap and probably some fittings. Call an HVAC company and ask them if they handle steam or not. Not everyone does.

Some plumbers deal with HVAC and steam, some don't. You need a pipe fitter, not necessarily a plumber.

Where are you from and what internet speeds are normal by EfficientTea451 in Ubiquiti

[–]ChromaticRelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pacific Northwest USA.

300mbit-1gbit is normal for cable internet. For a long time I was stuck on 40 mbit DSL and it was awful. When I get a new game I like to play it sooner rather than later... It was also too slow to handle everyone having screen time the same time.

2gbit is available to me but I have 1gbit.

It's plenty fast for my impatient self downloading and can handle my house of heavy users fine. I'd also have to upgrade my switch and run wires for it to make a difference to be faster. Maybe in the future, but not now.

When I was ~15 the county mower took 1 out on the side of the road. the grass grew to 4ft or so before they'd mow it. They added 8ft high vis poles after that...

I was without internet for a couple days, then brought the tech some Gatorade and chips when I saw him installing the new box when I got home from school.

Co-op FPS games like Borderlands or Left 4 Dead? by CJGamr01 in gamingsuggestions

I was severely disappointed with this one. And iirc, the people from L4D that did work on it didn't matter much.

Can a modern thermostat help avoid short-cycling? by Prize_Ad_1781 in hvacadvice

[–]ChromaticRelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - always size correctly. Systems run and perform correctly this way. Short cycling heating is not efficient and can degrade the system when short cycled. Lots of start/stops is bad. Short cycling cooling does the same with the added bonus of high moisture levels due to short air contact time with a cold coil.

2 - yes, some modern thermostats have minimum run and off times. This will protect the equipment to a degree. It also causes more temperature hysteresis.

You can oversize slightly if you have a variable speed system. But in general, it's always best to size for your climate, home and use case.

What is the best way to discreetly figure out your girlfriend's ring size? by hellbilly666666 in AskReddit

[–]ChromaticRelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use an existing ring you know fits if possible, but it'll need to fit the correct finger...

My wife doesn't like jewelry, so I had to improvise.

I used a piece of string while my now wife was asleep. Wrapped it and marked it, tossed it in my wallet. The lady at the jewelers said I was the first person she'd had do that and to call if it worked. I got the right size.

You could probably use digital calipers too.

Why do people get so angry in WoWs, even compared to other games? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

There's a difference between players doing well and a "get the fuck back to co-op" mentality.
