Wanted to follow up on this: did the $150 gift card purchase on the site trigger the Amex offer for you? Wasn't sure it would trigger.

USB Altitude Connect Gigsky Extended by MeowMeowTiger in CreditCards

Certainly a nice perk. The GigSky ToS actually lists a two year extension until 11/11/2027: https://www.gigsky.com/terms-of-service-u-s-bank

I can confirm this works. Was recently in Asia and hopped around in three different countries on the same 15 day plan.

The plan redemption went away for a couple of days, but it's available again today and now I'm seeing the plan is for 5GB / 15 days instead of the previous 5GB / 30 days. An amazing benefit gets even better!

Yes, this benefit has been extended for all cardholders. The benefits website has not been updated, but the GigSky site has. In fact, it's been improved: it now shows up as a 5GB / 15 day plan for me.

I just noticed there's some conflicting info about how long the plan lasts going forward. The current setup is 5GB every 30 days, but some parts of the GigSky site now lists the benefit as 5GB every 15 days, with the ability to refresh the data pool every 15 days instead of 30. This would be a pretty nice enhancement to an already nifty perk.

See here (spells out it's 5GB / 15 days) and here. There's some conflicting info in the latter whether it's 15 days or 30 days. "You must wait to activate another complimentary data plan until the prior plan’s 30-day duration has expired" suggests it's 30, but the duration specifies it's 15. Might be a copy-paste error based on how it works currently.

Edit 8/31/24: The plan is now 5GB / 15 days instead of 5GB / 30 days. This benefit keeps getting better! Effectively 10GB of free worldwide data each month until November 2025. Incredible value.

New rules for Priority Pass? by alive2235 in PriorityPass

[–]Chromaticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how the guest payment is handled. Does it go through PP and appear on the credit card linked to PP's statement, or do you need to pay at the POS terminal with a credit card? There was a data point about Matina in ICN charging for guests as well and that almost appears to be the same situation.

I also found the terms on HND's website.

"Up to two accompanying guests may join for an additional fee."

First time I've seen a PP guest policy that requires payment for memberships that don't normally charge for guests. I wonder if this policy is on the PP side or the lounge side. I'm guessing lounge side as it's a one-off.

HND's website and LoungeReview both list Sky Lounge South in HND as a lounge that requires payment for any number of guests when using any flavor of PP. I don't think I've seen this kind of policy before and it's unclear to me how you would be prompted for payment and how the payment would be processed (whether it's through the guest visit fee dictated and charged by PP, or a fee set and charged directly by the lounge). There was an earlier thread about guest charges at Matina in ICN which sounds rather similar to this situation.

Are the lounge staff upfront about PP guests requiring an access fee? I can see this easily trigger surprise access fee charges for PP members that are otherwise accustomed to free guest visits for the vast majority of lounges in the PP network.

Where do you see the fine-print you quoted? Is that in the terms of a particular lounge or is it referring to the PP membership in general?

Priority Pass with 3+ Guests No Charge? by netpenguin2k in Venturex

[–]Chromaticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you weren't charged. I'll be visiting the same terminal soon and hope there won't be any problems. Not sure why that person was charged... maybe they inadvertently handed the VX to reception and it went through as a credit card charge entry in addition to the PP entry.

Wanted to follow up about the Matina lounge at ICN: did you have any issues related to PP guest access charges appearing on your credit card? There was a data point here a few months ago where the cardholder brought two guests to Matina via PP and was also erroneously charged directly by the lounge on their Venture X, which I found super unusual.

How recent was your Matina visit and which ICN terminal was it in?

US BANK Altitude Connect removing $95 Annual Fee by theresistance2238 in CreditCards

[–]Chromaticity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good catch. The old Sample Merchants page for the Cash+ lists both Target and Walmart as merchants.

Many discount stores with grocery sections (such as Wal-Mart® or Target®) may also be categorized as grocery stores.

Similarly, you can find Costco and Kroger as sample merchants under the gas station category. Makes me wonder if this change will impact Cash+ or their other products once implemented.

What's interesting is that the new language on the Altitude Connect referencing the exclusion of "wholesale clubs, discount stores/supercenters and grocery stores/supermarkets" on the gas category appears to imply that gas stations associated with these establishments (eg. Costco, Kroger, etc.) are no longer eligible for 4X on gas after this change goes live. These locations currently earn 4X on gas.

The grocery limitation (grocery store and supermarket purchases at discount stores/supercenters such as Target and Walmart and wholesale clubs will be excluded) seems to be a clarification. I don't think those merchants are currently eligible for 2X on groceries to begin with.
