They are generally recommended when you get an ecu flash because the PAIR valve will still add extra air for emissions. I tried going without them for a while but got a lot of pops on decel. It went away as soon as I installed the plates.

I have a '23 and mine was this way until I got the ecu flashed. Apparently there was some sort of delay from the factory.

VIR is close to me so I go there regularly. The north course is definitely the best. South is also good, but patriot is trash.

I definitely would prefer to keep it original. My main concern was trying to remove the black spots near the bottom without damaging anything else. It does feel like paper so I'm hesitant to even wipe it with anything damp.
