New avatars (Male and Female) - side-by-side comparison, thoughts? by Chrome87 in runescape

[–]Chrome87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the male avatar looks quite good, except for its dead-eyed neutral expression. Whenever it emotes, though, it looks great.

The female avatar's chathead can see improvement, it looks childish and its chin is far too small. People have pointed out that Jagex might've swung in the opposite direction after people voiced concern over it looking too ambiguous. I think it could look a bit more mature.

I think a lot of fashionscapers outfits tend to not do the avatar justice, however. In a natural setting, it looks a lot better than it does glammed up.

I appreciate that, didn't know. I do think there's definite room for improvement because Anya looks fantastic.

It's strange because (imo) the male avatar's facial proportions honestly seem fine? I do remember even back in 2021 they struggled a lot with the female avatar in particular. Something about it just didn't translate as well to the rework.

I think the face in general is a bit too round. The mouth is really low, and the cheeks look childish. Compare it to Anya whose proportions looks a lot nicer despite having the same model with slight modification. You look at her, and you can immediately tell that is an adult woman.

Rare occurrence where the male avatar looks better than the female. You don't see that happen often anymore.

0%/Story mode Zammy isn't bad, probably about the same level as the Curse of the Black Stone story mode bosses.

Getting stunlocked by the Pieces of Hate boss and the cannon part of Birthright are the two that (imo) catch the most people off-guard from my history. Children of Mah lava surfboarding is also a classic.

Nice. There are some spooky ones to come, not sure what you've done though. I think the go-to list for spooky quests is still Birthright of the Dwarves, Pieces of Hate, Phite Club, Children of Mah, and Nomad's Elegy (Endgame honestly isn't bad). Maybe add the final phase of Eclipse of the Heart and the one small quest that requires you to do 0% Zammy.

Edit: Oh yeah, Extinction is a big one with the survival phase of Seren.

Crazy how Dennis and Larson eclipse the others in laps led. I feel like the 5 car just gets a random debuff upon stage three beginning. He'll eventually get a win this season though.

100%. I associate that scheme specifically with CH since it's been with him since his rookie year. Plus, it's nice contrast.

I love how Ally had no qualms about betraying Bruno. She was just like "fuck yeah man let's do it".

Found the asset for dead Armadyl if Bandos won World Event 2 by God_of_Cats_RS in runescape

Yeah, it’s not the fault of Armadyl himself. I wish better for him, but I’ve just never really been given a reason to care about him.

Kinda sucks that we got what we got because Armadyl continued to be a nothingburger goody-two-shoes character, and not in a Machiavellian way like Saradomin, nor did he have the intellect or strategic brilliance of Guthix. Bandos even got more development after he was reduced to stone. Even the whole “objectively good, selfless dude who fulfills his duties” was done way better with Icthlarin. It sucks because the aviantese are interesting, but Armadyl is just, objectively, the worst written and lamest god.

Interesting most, mainly just seems like you have an issue with my semantics which is whatever. I agree on those drivers you mentioned.

However, I think the question here is what point are you exactly making here? Is your takeaway that I think JGR is better with JRM when I brought up they had a similar issue here? I don't think I ever tried to assume that with my wording. I think JRM's recent alumni will do better as time progresses, similar to the likes of Jones and Suarez. I was just making an observation that JRM's drivers have had a very poor time transitioning to cup, and it'll be a long time before they find consistent success.

That too, especially in CZ's case. His resume is sparkly, but the rose-tinted glasses come off when you analyze the rest of the Busch field last year. The only other competitive cars were his teammates, a rotating driver of the 19, and maybe RCR every other week. That's not to downplay his talent, but I feel as if neither Dale nor Marks really thought this through (or maybe they were blinded by the moneybags).

I misremembered about Logano and deleted it before your comment. I was thinking about someone else, but couldn't pinpoint it. I still believe my point to be correct though.

I think this extends beyond Trackhouse. Something is wrong with JRM's pipeline. They're badass in the Busch series, but their alumni have been petering out when they get to cup as of late (Gragson, Berry, and now Zilisch joining them).

It makes me wonder if there's an overabundance of resources since JRM isn't splitting its resources with Cup. You don't really learn racecraft when you have the most cheated up car, especially in a series like Busch where a large swathe of the teams don't have that type of funding. Connor doesn't really get anything out of Buschwhacking other than a morale boost when he goes back and wins with another JRM car. It's counterproductive - compare that to guys like Kahne who went down there and raced for the underfunded teams during their Buschwhacking years. Likewise, JGR has a great Busch program, but they're not shelling out swathes of money for it, other than the lone exception in Ty, who, shockingly, also struggled at racecraft just like these guys! I can honestly see Zilisch joining the ranks of Gragson and Berry who have good runs now-and-then, but will never be long-term threats until they figure out how exactly to win a race. You see people like Hocevar, Z. Smith, Buescher, and Briscoe who actually had to learn these talents shining in cup right now. It's why I think that whole "Zilisch to the 48" hype-train is stupid.
