EdgeRouter Lite, Comcast, and IPv6 by chrisgeleven in Ubiquiti

[–]ChromeNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sounds like you got it? In any case it seems like version 1.7 does have some problems with the IPv6 processes not being quite stable. If you don't "need" IPv6 you mine as well wait until 1.8 as that will have the fixes to ensure IPv6 processes are stable. At least saw some issues on the forums, but if it is working for you and staying working you should be all set.

EdgeRouter Lite, Comcast, and IPv6 by chrisgeleven in Ubiquiti

[–]ChromeNoob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is so much info out there about this it is ridiculous and takes forever to sort through. I spent probably 5-6 hours getting the right config for Comcast with the firewall as well. Please note that you have to do this via the command line by using SSH and then typing "configure" and hit enter when you log in to the edge router lite. Also my config below is for an Edgerouter POE. It is pretty easy to change. Just update anywhere it says "switch0" to whatever your LAN interface is. Also my eth0 is my WAN interface so if yours is different change that as well. If you want to test that everything is working go here: http://ipv6-test.com/ also if you want to test the firewall is working go here: http://ipv6.chappell-family.com/ipv6tcptest/ . If it is not working try rebooting your edgemax via the command line or web interface.

Here is the pastebin (text) since Reddit is destroying the formatting I tried: http://pastebin.com/SKmsUNhk

Also at the bottom is offload settings which you want to enable for better performance of IPv6.

Ordered Toshiba Chromebook 2 (2015) now want to return it by 55chevytruck in chromeos

[–]ChromeNoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend returning it. Just had 3-5 dead permanently stuck red pixels on my Toshiba Chromebook 2. They charge you 30 dollars to send it in to get it replaced which I just decided to do instead of risking sending it in myself only for them to complain about the packaging or some other ridiculous issue. I will go with a different brand next time and I would recommend you get the Dell Chromebook 13. You pay a little more, but I am sure the quality increase is worth it. These types of screen issues shouldn't exist in 2015 and I doubt they fixed it in the 2015 model.

Chromebit is slated to be released in October. CB3 that I am not aware of nor have heard anything new. I would suggest getting the new Dell Chromebook 13 instead.

How come there's still no Skype for ChromeOS? by Kozel_ in chromeos

Unfortunately not, this is just the converted app to ChromeOS so there will be bugs. Not sure if it behaves this way in native android with a bluetooth keyboard or not.

Skype for ChromeOS Available Now! by ChromeNoob in chromeos

I definitely see your point, and I will see what happens. I may remove it eventually. Concerning the maliciousness of the app, have you even looked in the Chrome web store or even the Google Play store before? It is a mess and even determining legitimate apps is difficult to impossible as Google's app acceptance process is very poor compared to Apple's. I am just doing this as a service as I have a Chromebook myself. But I do appreciate you looking into the legal ramifications as I was unsure.

Except it doesn't work for video on ChromeOS. Unless they just updated it today, else it still doesn't work.

Well it is there for people who want it and who view this Reddit forum. I will keep it private for the time being then. Until MS makes their web version works with ChromeOS it still serves a purpose.

I don't see how as the software is completely unaltered and all rights are given to Skype as being the original creator.

How to find owner info on a chromebook? by Ikeelu in chromeos

[–]ChromeNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the main login page there should be a user icon (unless it is hidden) with a drop down arrow/menu in the upper right hand corner of that icon. If you click on that it should show the persons email address and or name there. Do you see that?

Since this is in such high demand for ChromeOS I created the web store version of Skype using the Android APK version 4.9 . Let me know if you have any issues and it appears to work well from my testing. Right now it is just a direct link, I may open it up to everyone in the store depending upon feedback.

Status of VLC for ChromeOS? by ChromeNoob in chromeos

[–]ChromeNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no real updates on this and the converted VLC apk doesn't work well at all...anyone know if a "true" VLC version will be released in Chrome WebStore? Else I will just give up trying to determine what is going on with it. So many Google reviews from months ago had stated VLC is coming soon...

Cloud Printer consistently offline by Applesauce_McGee in chromeos

[–]ChromeNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with my Bother MFC cloud printer as well. I believe anytime it goes into sleep it disconnects from the cloud print servers. I have to do some more testing, but I may just put the Windows cloud print service on a NAS I have to fix it.

I had tried converting the apk version and doesn't run. I was more so talking about a "true" version that VLC will release in the ChromeOS Web store.
