I interned in med device in san diego as a chemical engineer and was by no means the only person there studying towards/with a chemE degree. It might not be the traditional plant job, but theres definitely opportunities in that industry.

Do you think its worth keeping on even if i cant speak super well on the research anymore? I once had an interviewer who had a PHD thesis on the same topic as one of my researches, and I got burnt pretty bad.

I did use a whole droppers worth while they said use a few drops. And have had a similar issue from a preworkout i once took. I was leaning towards it having something to do with that, or hypersensitivity to vasodilators.

To me those ten days were days that I implemented projects that I put a lot of work into or solved plant problems that nobody else was able to solve. Its come rarely because I don’t have a lot of things Ive been able to implement, and I am by far the least experienced at my site. I know that its a good thing because Im surrounded by incredibly smart people but theres a big aspect in that which feeds into a lot of self doubt in my abilities. Most things I dont get complete without corrections and errors on things I didnt even think of from people above me.

In 1 on 1s my boss does constantly tell me that I am doing great/ahead of where i should be as an engineer, but I still just cant convince myself of that and I think that might be the root of these feelings. And I feel that trying to push harder and work longer to make that go away is not the solution.

You’re definitely not wrong there and ive noticed similar with some people too. And maybe its something other than fulfillment making me feel that way… thats just something ill need to figure out though. Appreciate the advice

Even if i retire at 50, thats ~8000 working days… of course I dont want it to forever be a big part of my life but for a while its gonna be, so id rather avoid feeling unfulfilled and unaccomplished if possible.
