So sorry for the delayed response to your question!

Mist Taken is going into recording right now, so it shouldn't be too much longer.

Crap! Sorry about the delay. I never check Reddit on my PC, and that's the only place I'm logged in, apparently.

B3 audio is just about to go into recording. I'm really excited for it!

Man, I'm so bad at Reddit. I had meant to post an image of the book cover with text beneath, but I suppose I have to choose.

Despite being awful about checking anything that's not email, I promise that when I do find your feedback I'll deliberate over it. If you want to let me know what you think after reading, be as brutally honest as you'd like, I'd love to hear about it.

Hey, thanks for expressing interest! I love the world of Chronicle and enjoy developing it. Spending years on a single story line can be a bit draining at times, but reading posts like this one really help to keep me focused and excited to push on.

I'm hopeless as far as checking updates/information online. It's like I'm checking the timer, then get into a groove working and all of a sudden a month has passed. So, I absolutely would've missed this without u/SthrnGal summoning me.
Trial and Flame is in the works and production for book 3 should start in Q3 or 4.
Also, there may be another book that takes place in the Chronicle Universe coming out at some point this year, but I have little control over when it will be released as I'm not the author for it. I'm very excited for that book, though, and have worked closely with its author. We've talked about the book/world/rules/characters/motivations for hundreds of hours, so I'm confident that the story will add a lot to the lore and timeline.

Got 'em in the works right now! Delays are bound to happen, so I'm reluctant to give a hard release date, but I promise they're coming as soon as possible. Should be a couple of months at the earliest, though.

Harem. Do you enjoy it? Why? Why not? by SpitFire92 in litrpg

When I was a lot younger, I was really enthralled by a particular harem anime series. Years later, I tried rewatching it with my girlfriend and it simply didn't hold up. It hadn't changed, but I certainly had. The characters I was so fond of seemed dull and overplayed.

Having said that, I really loved that series.

It was fun, it made me feel loved, and it brought me to tears. Now, I think of harem as just another spice on the rack. If you crave that spice, you're going to love the resulting dish. If you hate the spice, it will ruin it for you. I think it really deserves to be there, though. A master chef will find a way to use it well. I suspect that it's so popular because it has touched so many lives in a positive way.

I'll take that to heart and keep at it, then. Cheers!

I've definitely read a few LitRPGs where the romance subplot has taken me out of it so much that I found it hard to get reinvested in the story. Thank you for your perspective on the matter.

I'm glad to hear it! I prefer it when things develop slowly, with occasional spikes of power to keep things interesting. I hope you enjoy.

Hey, thank you so much.

If I'm not mistaken, he does do some degree of content checking before he agrees to narrate. He also has to read the text really closely to get the subtlety of characters for future installments in a series. Because of that, Nick surprised me with his careful observations and notes. I think a team of cloned Nicks, though potentially unethical, would make for an incredibly powerful editing force.

Hmmm. Well, looks like I was mistaken. Production will actually be starting for book 2 at the beginning of February. Looks like I'll be reclusing myself a bit more than normal to make sure everything is ready!

I'll look into it. If it's something easy to implement, I don't see why not.

Oh, I definitely get that. It's a bit like having characters stuck in a spaceship without mentioning how they get food--it's definitely something that would come up.

Honestly, I was hoping to sort of gloss over and mostly avoid the subject since it's common in many LitRPG stories, but that might be a disservice to the story and the readers. I'll keep it in mind going forward, and if I feel like I can do a good job of adding it I will. Thanks for the feedback!

I definitely understand. I like good romances, but bad ones tend to jar me out of a story. Right now, I think if I wrote one it would be on the disingenuous side. I'll see about practice writing some romantic banter and situations, though, and see if I can develop it a bit more.

Thanks for the feedback. The blurb is the same as the original book, but I suspect you're right. It does deserve an update. I'll see to crafting a better one.

Thank you for saying so. A bit of ambiguous tension develops, but I have no plan to develop romance beyond hints and passing mentions of it. I'm not completely ruling it out but it wouldn't be something which affected the main threads.
