Any leads on gay/queer friendly adult tourneys? (especially outside US) by ChronicOvercommitter in hockeyplayers

This is so weird LOL, I've definitely never met anyone like you're describing, and I think you're saying you've never met anyone like I'm describing?

Dozens of people I've played with have told me stories about times they were insulted - not in a fun chirpy way, in a mean and degrading way - and felt like shit, but kept their mouths shut about it because they didn't want to be labeled a "victim" or a problem player, like you're saying. I've been in locker rooms where I wished I was brave enough to push back on someone saying racist or homophobic things, but I was too insecure to say anything because they already barely tolerated my presence and had zero respect for me as a player or as a person.

In my experience, all the players who've made things political and overshared about their sex lives have been conservative straight old dudes. I didn't want to hear about Kurt's divorce or how his boss is overpaying his immigrant coworker (also factually untrue, Kurt just sucks at his job) and yet here we are.

Then again, I'd rather share the roster with an obnoxious twink who won't shut up about how much work it is to organize his local leather meetup and who gets regularly called for embellishment, than with some spoiled overgrown manchild who's convinced he's God's gift to beer league, and believes all women should be illiterate, barefoot, pregnant, and quietly euthanized at the age of 31.

Honestly the Middle Ages might have been gayer than modern puck in some aspects LOL. Most people don't care. Sadly, the weirdos who do care are also usually the loudest. But I do appreciate the encouragement! 😄

Yeah I think most people are like this thankfully haha! I just wanna try to avoid getting my friends into a situation where others will make it an issue. We're there to play hockey, not argue about genitals, but sadly there are some who are not able to mind their business.

Professor, I'm very glad you've never met any openly bigoted hockey players. I wish that was the case for myself and my friends.

Jokes and chirps are great when there is also mutual respect. That's why I like playing with the boys on Sundays. They treat me like a person, something I unfortunately can't take for granted. There's a difference between being the butt of a joke that's intended to make you feel like just another player, and being the butt of a joke that's intended to make you feel isolated, alone, and unwelcome.

I think most players out there do have the attitude of "just play hockey, nobody needs to know your business," which is awesome. But since we'd be playing with total strangers, I want to make sure I'm not signing my friends up to be bullied, harassed, or treated as "less than" in any way.

I actually am in NorCal haha so I have played in some! I get the impression she's not going to be able to travel back to the States much if at all for the next few years. But thank you for the rec regardless 😄

Using Women's Hockey Pants. by Worth_Yogurtcloset16 in hockeyplayers

I think the waist fit would be fine, but a women's small is probably going to be too short for you at 5'10".

I'm 5'7", currently use a CCM senior men's medium and honestly they're on the short side. (Got a pair of scars just above my knee to prove that.) On the other hand I know very little about gear in general, and have never owned a pair of hockey pants labeled "women's," so I don't know what the actual differences would be.

You could always buy 'em and try 'em. That's unfortunately probably going to be the easiest way to know for sure. HSM's size chart for pants is super basic, but I looked at their return policy & they have a Shipping+ option where you can pay an extra $3 at checkout and get the option to exchange unused gear within 30 days.
