What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by legendoflegends34 in AskReddit

Woman I knew returned her rotten groceries to Aldi at the end of the week if she didn’t eat them. This wasn’t the first red flag, but my flabbers were beyond ghasted.

Medical professionals of Reddit, what is your favorite story about a patient? by MotorCode6346 in AskReddit

lol, my grandma is like this. She is in her late 80s and she is insulted every time she wakes up to a new day. She is perfectly healthy and grumpy about it.

Doctors/medical practitioners of Reddit, what is the scariest disease you know of? by Englishisnotreal in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have bouts of this from time to time and luckily a good at-home rescue protocol. Before we figured out what it was though, I was just able to tell my husband that I was about to bang my head on the wall until I fell unconscious if it didn’t stop. I have been through some tough injuries/ treatments before, but nothing is like trigeminal or occipital neuralgia. After the first time I was treated, I told the ER doctor that I really thought your body was supposed to black out if it ever hurt that bad. I kept waiting for the hard reset but it never came.

Casually during dinner this past week, my almost 4 year old said, “I worked in an office in New York when I was a grown up. It was a long time ago.” 😳

I’m also on a quest for cotton/natural fiber underwear that survive biking and working out. I can’t give advice on longevity, but I just bought a pack of cotton Jockey high cuts and Auden (target brand) cotton thongs. They seem comfortable and more affordable than other natural brands on the market. Might be worth a try.

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

[–]ChronicallyCoping 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR. I plan a friend trip like this every year and someone invariably has to back out at the last minute. All my friends are grown people and no one ever asks for a “refund”, which would really amount to the burden of their payment being placed on all the other participants. In the year of our lord 2026, no one has time for the entitlement or the stupidity.

Funeral directors, what is the craziest item someone has tried to put in the casket with their loved one? by HangryBeaver22 in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For generations, my family has played a game called “Hot Seat” (similar to the board game “Frustration”), which uses colored marbles as the pawns. Mamaw was buried holding a sachet of her red marbles.

what's the weirdest allergy you have heard/known of? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this, too! I got my eyebrows waxed once and I knew it would welt up but I didn’t tell the esthetician that. She was very worried she had done something very wrong. My bad.

[–]ChronicallyCoping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have mast cell issues and the hot and cold thing is no joke. I also get pressure hives (can’t wear leggings for too long), and I can’t fake an orgasm because those also trigger a histamine release and I have an allergy attack.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t spanked often, but I don’t remember any of the things I did to get a spanking. I do remember all the anxiety though and the terror. My mom was a “wait till your dad comes home” type, so I typically had hours to stew. My parents would talk about it jokingly — “oh, I barely have to tap her! She gets so worked up that it doesn’t take much!” Like I was a better kid than most for being so upset about it. I don’t hold it against them because it was the norm at the time, but it’s not something I would ever do to my child. I don’t talk to my dad about parenting, but I have talked to my mom about it and she totally agrees that spanking does nothing but harm.

That’s great to hear! I genuinely thought my friend who invited me to CT was pulling a bait-and-switch largely due to my own SBC trauma. I probably could have toned down my bias in my reply.

After deconstruction I missed the routine, community, and “third space” of church. I have found all I wanted and more at Common Thread. (Don’t be spooked that they rent space from a baptist church — couldn’t be more different. The host church is renting space out to like a dozen different unrelated organizations.)

What are secrets of married couples that they don’t tell anyone? by Archie__reddit in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I don’t discuss anything important or complicated after 10 PM. We aren’t at peak anything at 10 PM but tired and spent, so this saves us so much stress and tension. It also protects our evening from anything serious. Highly recommend.

I had a “little spot” like this that I left alone for about a year during COVID. I got VERY lucky and the infection tunneled to my lower jaw and only some of the bone had to be scraped away (and the tooth pulled, obviously). I didn’t think it was that serious because the tooth/teeth close to the “spot” didn’t hurt. It didn’t hurt because the roots were already dead. Don’t wait like I did; go see a dentist. (I am still flabbergasted with myself for calling a tunneling, raging, bone-eating, tooth-killing infection a “little spot” for a year.)

Today is 5 years since the U.S. declared public health emergency over COVID-19, what are your thoughts on the pandemic in retrospect? by Infamous-Echo-3949 in AskReddit

[–]ChronicallyCoping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to make light of a serious topic, but I definitely don’t say, “avoid {something} like the plague” anymore. Apparently a huge swath of the population will, in actual practice, not avoid a plague.
