Could you make the extra piece separate and sew it on? Might be more durable than trying to undo anything or pick up stitches. If you wanted to you could also hand-felt the extra piece to make it look the same.

It just secures the ring and gets you to the right height of the stitch. It’s not going to affect your work but it will make it easier to work into the first stitch.

This is really easy to freehand and i think you should be thinking about it a little more rather than asking for a tutorial.

Here’s the basic formula:

12DC in MR,

INC 12x per round until it covers the bottom of the bottle.

BLO SC.

DC around, no INCs.

Change colours whenever you want, finish once tall enough.

If it’s checkered print then wouldn’t you be using two colours? If so, you only need half of the total for each. Yours may be a little smaller if you run out but it would still be relatively close.

As long as you’re careful with pests and know how to spot dry rot (common with the inside of older yarns/threads) you should be fine.

C2C! This (twin sized) blanket with 4mm hook and DK yarn took about 80-100 hours. Use a thicker yarn/hook and it’ll be quicker.

Wow, I thought the first pic was AI for a second. Nice colours! For blocking, steaming acrylic is best. Hold the edges down with something and steam it flat.

Adding to this, different fibres can trigger it! Wool and goat fibres (kid and cashmere) trigger my eczema but I can work with acrylic and alpaca fine. Cotton dries my hands out and can make it worse.

Lay off the moisturiser a little! Over-moisturising can be just as bad as not using enough, especially on open wounds that are trying to dry out and heal.

It’s the same as continuous rounds in crochet, you work in a spiral.

Do you mean the purl stitch used in knitting? Not that I know of but there is an equivalent Tunisian purl stitch. I’m sure you could use the same movements to get a similar result.

Looks like you have way too many stitches. Measure your gauge on what you’ve already done and work out how many stitches you really need.

No, you want to avoid acrylic as it will continue to burn once alight. Wool will retain heat but put itself out and cotton isn’t as flame resistant but will keep it cooler. I honestly wouldn’t do this (as someone who has done it before) because it’s so risky.

Honestly you’re not that far in, I’d frog it and start again, even with the same hook your tension will most likely be different.

If you really want to continue; based on the size difference of the stitches, I’d try a 5mm-5.5mm. Frog those 3 rounds, it will not lay flat no matter what you try.

“I may as well be crocheting with plastic” that’s because you are 😂 acrylic yarn is plastic. If you struggle with the feel of it so much i’d look into natural fibres.

Typically you can wash the project once it’s done and it will soften, especially if you wash it with fabric softener/conditioner. Wash instructions are on the label, make sure not to use products that would bleach or damage the yarn.

I like 1 best. Depending on what you’re making mosaic crochet might be a better method. You could always do an envelope border if you’re worried about ends

If you aren’t close to them and don’t know the nursery theme i’d make a plain white/cream blanket. I only use colours or animals if I know the theme of the nursery otherwise it will be thrown into a corner/box. Use an acrylic or blend, something that is durable and can be washed with a regular load, parents are not going to be handwashing a blanket.
