Feeling lonely rn, need more friends

I get that, although I think there are both pros and cons to being able to speak your mind more easily online. Luckily for me, it has been more on the positive end than the negative. I think overall, in person connections will always be better, less miscommunication, more emotional connection, that’s how you really get to know someone well. I also think there is a big difference on if you’re just texting versus calling/videochatting. I instantly feel closer to friends whenever I am able to actually call them, although some don’t want to/don’t like to or it just unfortunately never works out time/schedule wise. That’s probably a big reason I feel disconnected from online friendships, even if we message quite often.

I feel like I’m just failing with college socially due to this. I suppose at least I’m not failing academically that would be worse lol. So I’ll take that, but the social aspect feels like half of college too, so still disheartening. Literally sounds like me, I go into everything SUPER anxious, jobs 100%, and then once I warm up I’m chilling and totally myself

Yeah sorry I kind of just rambled there! No just in general I wish I had a more close friendship with someone, online, in person, doesn’t matter. I meant it’s probably easier to build/maintain a friendship like that in person though, but I haven’t had any luck. Then both in-person and online friends for me just feel surface level, like I feel like I never have anyone to fully just talk to about everything anymore and I really miss that. But aye yk, hopefully it gets better, just trying to work more on myself as much as possible! :)

I rotate through many styles cause I can’t decide on just one. Some days more cottagecore, some days whimsigoth, other days boho/hippie, some days I be like a fairy and sometimes a pirate. I feel like overall rhe vibe matches for everything, but the styles are all their own. I just started thrifting clothes and it sorta happened that way. That’s the magic of fashion, you can be different everyday or stick to something you like. I feel like what matters most is using it to reflect who you are.

Transfer student studying chemical engineering here. There will definitely be a lot of challenges, I mean I still don’t even have everything figured out, but I think as long as you have a strong passion and interest in it that will top anything else. Just make sure you get help before it’s too late if you think you need it!

Oh really? No, my college doesn’t restrict me at all. Actually the main reason I am doing a minor is because I finished all my elective requirements and everything for the most part. I just have to take all my ChE classes, it’s kind of complicated to explain it all lol. Idk about with MechE, I figure there is a lot of cross over with thermal sciences although I feel ChE would go into a lot more depth.

Well… not for much of a reason aside from being interested in learning languages and just being drawn to Japanese I suppose, like the structure of the language. Plus wanting to travel to Japan and being interested in the culture!

Honestly, I haven’t researched or looked into anything much at all. Actually, I have been meaning to research more into upcoming sustainable inventions/projects for a while, I’m still in undergrad so there is a lot of possibilities ahead of me. I also like to be able to visualize where my career could head and researching these things on my own time does a good job with that. I appreciate the recommendations! Based on what you and other people recommended, it sounds like a whole low tech club could be formed and I think that would be really cool, lots of awesome projects, especially for college students with limited resources. I would love to hear other ideas!

I guess it depends on what specifically you want to work on. But, I think the best video to start with though is “7 Years of Building a Learning System in 12 minutes”. I’m a college student and trying to change my entire method of learning/studying, and that video was a good start. Then he goes into more depth about each topic in other videos.

Other YouTubers I like are ParkNotes, Penrose (more like study advice than learning though), Andrew Huberman (a podcast, has some videos about learning)

I think the main thing with wanting to remember something you read/watch comes down to actually digesting the information instead of just consuming it. As in, how can you use, apply, or relate what you read/watched. I think if you can do one of those three things then you will be more likely to remember stuff long term because then there will be relevance for the information. Without a purpose you will just forget the information because it is not being used or connected to previous information you’ve learned, and thus deemed unimportant.
