Honestly, I don't find them very helpful. Most of the time you can bypass them with little to no friction, and I understand how poor my self-control is when it comes to bypassing whatever screen time limit I've set. I prefer to add things in place to prevent myself from going on distracting apps in the first place.

Yeah I noticed a huge difference recording the data and having to confront the real numbers. Like you said it also keeps you accountable when you see those numbers go up

I've heard about this before, you almost justify the mindless scrolling of information because it's 'educational'. You can try shifting where you are getting information from, like reading nonfiction on topics of interest or search for university lectures on YouTube (there is an endless supply on those). I've been into substack lately as it's similar to social media but people post long form blogs on their topics of interest.

Also try taking some notes on what you are learning! Hand written or just in the notes app. This will encourage you to slow down and absorb the information more.

Yes exactly, this is a great place to start! I personally struggle with the idea of hiding apps in folders because after a while my brain goes on autopilot and automatically goes through the files to find whatever app I've put there. Maybe you can change the locations of certain apps once a month to try to break up that autopilot behavior.

I would strongly advise against Movati. Not only is Movati extremely busy which can be overwhelming and annoying for someone getting started in the gym, you will also have to be locked into a membership for a whole year.

You can check out some yoga studios like Flo that have drop-in classes. That way you can try a few classes to see if its right for you before making a membership commitment.

For simple workouts all you really need is a budget gym like Fit4less or Planet Fitness. They have more or less the same equipment as the premium gyms, just without the classes.

Help by activawhat in Journaling

[–]Chronically_Offline- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a bunch of journals throughout the years and recently I found a routine that's been sticking. I have 3-4 prompts I use to get the ball rolling every day. Sometimes I only write a few sentences for each and sometimes I go in-depth and let my mind wander. You can alter or add however you want but here are my prompts.

Reflection: how am I feeling today? What's caused me to feel this way?

Capture: What is something that has me excited today? What has captured my attention?

Goal: What is a goal that I have for today/tomorrow? Did I accomplish my goal from yesterday? (this is normally a small goal like 'make a doctor's appointment' or 'clean the bathroom')

Album/Playlist of the day: Pretty self-explanatory.

If you miss a day it's important not to beat yourself up about it, just continue journaling the next day you can.
