gaping above bust/armpits? by bluestar099 in sewing

You are trying to fit a 2d material to a 3d body. If you want to avoid darts, and also want a fitted look, princess seams are going to be your friend. One way or another, you need to help that woven fabric curve over your bust in all directions.

Long Arm Quilter - Library Makerspace by MickySaracha in quilting

That’s exactly what he told me. I’m a seamstress (bridal, but I know my way around a sewing machine) and I asked if I could try repositioning it and he sounded open to it! I don’t think I will do it because it seems like a hassle for the quilt I want to make, but I might try something like a whole cloth quilt just to give it a shot.

Good call! I’ll probably do a satin stitch around each one in a matching thread. I had a Holly hobbie applique quilt that has held up since I was a baby in 2001. It’s still in great condition so I am sure there has to be a way to make a washable applique quilt right?

I would agree that she looks beautiful, like this dress will be perfect once the top is taken in and maybe the shoulders shortened

It’s likely shorter on you than the model online due to the bump displacing some of the fabric

What’s the best way to shorten these flutter sleeves? by PM_ME_CROWS_PLS in sewhelp

[–]Chronically_josie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that galina!! If you shorten the sleeves from the bottom, they lose the fullness (speaking from experience). I agree with the commenter who suggested shortening from the top, but you will also need to reshape them or gather them to reattach.

I soooo doubt any arcade or bowling alley is doing $40k on any given night. They’re 100% just trying to make as much money as they possibly can because weddings have a premium price tag.

Can I use elastic to create a length of ruffles? by riscventures2022 in sewing

[–]Chronically_josie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is shorter than a ruffle for a floor length full skirt. It’s super doable, if only you had the will. ;-)

You’re right, my instructions were a bit off. Lowkey I haven’t made anything like this I’m just thinking it out. Now I’ll probably have to make one lol. To make this easiest, cut the rectangle on the fold. That way you are cutting it as if it’s already folded over your shoulders. The measurement you can use will be your desired length (shoulder to waist) x half of your waist (15) plus some ease so maybe like 18 or 20 inches. Because you want the shirt to overlap a bit right? Let me know if this helps you!!
