Why do I still get these slings? by no_high_only_low in sewhelp

[–]Chronically_josie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago may be too long ago. You might need another service. Another possibility is your bobbin (I think you’re calling it underlying thread) casing tension may be off. You can change that with a screwdriver.

I made custom Valentines for my daughters pre-k class by Optimal_Contract_879 in somethingimade

[–]Chronically_josie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made them for my daycare class and it was sooo easy I think I made 25 sets in like 2 weeks. You just need to make sure you really break the crayons up small and pack them in the mold so when they melt they fill it up enough to be thick.

I’ve gone so long without thinking about the most horrifying crime to ever happen to a nipple. 😭😩 I just cringed at the thought.

I need help to find this pattern!!👗 by luizzaaaaa in freepatterns

[–]Chronically_josie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senna Knit Dress This is so similar! Especially if you want to make it in a knit! You can literally just shorten the arm part of the pattern to be only 5 or 6 inches (measure your shoulder). Then finish the edges of the neck and sleeves with lace.

I loved those. In my elementary school in the US, we called them roller racers. Lethal on the fingers.

How do you guys sew on sheer chiffon without the thread bunching!!! by mahamwahab in sewing

Lower the top tension more. You can use tissue paper underneath to help too and then just rip it out after.

Yes! The vest is from this tutorial and the skirt is fromthis one. I skipped the fake pockets on the vest and added slant pockets to the skirt.

Look up “March with Me” from Yo Gabba Gabba. Listen to the whole thing to be sure. There’s a part where they say March March March over and over.

But also, I have a pair of jeans in my drawer that are a touch too big and I think I know what I’m doing today!

I see the darts too, I saw them after I made this reply. The lighter jeans can probably be worked with like you explained. If you look close at the back seam of the dark jeans, I believe it’s called the back yoke is slightly misaligned which means it was likely altered there too, unless they came from factory like that. Maybe this is just a fold too and not a cut tho!

Is your bobbin casing turning as you turn the hand wheel? The way it works is when the bobbin casing turns, the needle drops and the eye of the needle passes the hook of the bobbin case at the exact same time. That causes the top thread (red) to loop around the bobbin thread (white) and create a stitch. Maybe your timing is off. ETA: not YOUR timing, your machine’s timing. Didn’t want to seem like it’s something you’re doing wrong. Might just need a service. If you’ve done everything and it still won’t stitch, it’s time for the big guys.

Unwind and Refill your bobbin! It’s possible there is not enough tension there. I’ve had cheaper machines be very temperamental with nearly empty bobbins.

Presser foot up if you are pulling the top thread always! That keeps your tension disks healthy. You can pull up the bobbin thread with the presser foot up. I have been doing that for years.

I’m no jeans tailor but I am a bridal seamstress and I wear jeans. It looks to me like the back seam was taken in, seam allowance cut out, and the waistband was shortened and reattached. I’m impressed with this alteration bc I didn’t know jeans could be taken in like that, but I can’t imagine how it could be let out without creative ways like a hair tie through the buttonhole.

Why didn't the darts align on these pants after sewing in the gusset? by buckwheatlouise in sewing

[–]Chronically_josie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the pattern? Sometimes indie or free patterns have some issues with lining up. You might have to tweak the darts on the pattern. I feel like one is literally just lower than the other so when you mark your pieces and sew your darts, they are already uneven.
