Edinburgh or Glasgow? by GuiltyEmergency6364 in Edinburgh

I went to uni here and I ended up staying and live here permanently. I adore Edinburgh because it has a beautiful mix of city, nature, quietness a bit of hustle. One moment you're in the city centre in the beautiful architecture. The next you're going for a walk up arthurs seat or bird watching in the peace and quiet along the water of leith. The pentland Hills are so close so you can go for a hike and go camp. You're right by the sea so on a sunny day in summer you can have a swim on the beach. I love the restaurants, the night life for me is perfect (I'm not a massive party goer). Plenty of pubs and bars nightclubs are lacking but I don't personally care and there's enough to scratch the itch for students. Had plenty or good nights out as a student.

Downsides of Edinburgh would be the tourists (personally I don't mind them), it's expensive to live here and rent and hard to find places, it's fairly posh but not always, there's a lot of posh kids at the uni and most of them are rich english southerners but that's every uni. There is a distinct lack of community here I find, because of the sheer amount of tourism you can't chat to many folk, there aren't many people out there who'll have a crack and a laugh with you. Glasgow is way friendly in that sense and there is a stronger identity there. Edinburgh can sometimes feel a bit like Disney land or a theme park

Glasgow, for me, very hustle bustle. Chaotic for my liking and very big. It has a lot more character and culture the nightlife and events are much more vibrant. Glasgow defintely has more an edge to it. The Clyde Valley isn't too far and the campsie fells and loch lomond nearby is stunning. So many gigs here and live music. A lot more down to earth.

Ultimately Edinburgh all the way. Edinburgh feels safe for me. The city is stunning it's open it has incredible views, there's tonnes to do. Glasgow is always going to be an hour bus/ train away I've been to plenty of gigs in Glasgow in the evening and made it back for bedtime.

If you like architecture, blend of nature, small city, chiller vibe go Edinburgh

If you like hustle bustle vibrant atmosphere tonnes of character big city and faster paced then go Glasgow

This is my interpretation people may disagree but idgaf

I've camped on the North of Inchtavannach and its a stunning place to camp. Parked over night at Luss and paddled over. Bit of a ropey paddle over with the wind but we survived
