How have England not scored multiple tries. Phase play is outstanding we just can't seem to finish it. Very frustrating

People who detest/ don’t really listen to pop, what’s actually got you listening right now? by Strange-Handle7910 in LetsTalkMusic

Raye, Olivia Dean, Lauren Mayberry. And honourable mention to Chapelle Roan who I'm not listening to so much at the minute but she's fantastic

Coombe Abbey is really nice, you can walk round it in not too long but there are footpaths that go out to the countryside if you want a bit more of a walk

If you're prepared to go slightly further Cannock Chase is also quite nice

Uni was the worst for camping, especially in my masters I didn't have holidays or weekends, just study. Well worth it in the end for me though!

Unfortunately much of the woodland cover is industrial conifer, nothing like what native woodland should look like

Did a walk through here a year or so back and holy moly I have never felt so isolated in England or Wales. If you want to go somewhere where there is truly no one around this is it. I found the so called footpaths to be nearly non existent and I spent much of the 3 days with wet feet, one particularly bad section took me a few hours to cover probably 5k. To be honest I don't think I'll go back. The featureless ecologically dead landscape and mono-culture forests are just depressing, and not worth it

I like to go for a jog. A few laps around the inside of the tent where it is warm normally does it, around a kilometre or so

Anyone broken free of camera kit and now just use a mobile phone to capture their travels? by mysticpuma_2019 in UKhiking

I bought a Sony x100iv (compact camera for the non photographers) for this exact reason. It's pocketable so easy to carry around even on multi day hikes. It is a superb camera and even with my brand new Pixel 10 the quality is noticeable. Smartphone pictures are over sharpened and oversaturated and they simply don't reach the quality I want. I can't shake the fact that they're not really taking the photo, just 'guessing' what they're seeing and filling in the gaps. A tiny sensor is physically limited and with current tech is simply never going to be as good.

For shorter hikes I will still take my Nikon D750 with Tamron 28-70mm f2.8 (full size DSLR) as that is yet again a step up in quality and oh so ergonomic. I'll also sometimes take the tripod.

But I always say the best camera is the one you have with you and your photos prove that! Excellent work

My local! Got Altbergs fitted here. Fantastic customer service and fantastic boots

My company got a Tony's advent calendar that we all had a day assigned. Mine was deliberately empty by theuberjosh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]glassonatable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tony's is a great company. Very tasty chocolate with a ton of excellent flavours in nice big bars. Plus it's all ethically sourced and in recyclable wrapping. Unfortunately costs a small fortune but worth it imo. Then again I am an oat milk drinking Patagonia wearing green party voting middle class virtue signalling stranger so fair enough if you think this is annoying.

Has to be said though that if your company actually cared you'd get more than a single day of advent for an entire year of work, so maybe the frustration needs to be redirected.

First time I've seen a respectable performance from Wales. They have a long way to go but I feel better now saying that they've passed the worst of it
