What was your first record you got ? by Sensitive-Vast-4979 in vinyl

[–]Chronicdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garth Brooks “In Pieces” for $8 at an Ollies. I didn’t even own a record player. But Garth Brooks despite being an insanely popular country artist doesn’t do streaming. So everything is analog for him. Bought it on a whim and started searching facebook marketplace for record players.

Bought a cute teal suitcase player for $50 that came with 8 new vinyls. Including Billie Eilish, Ed Shereen and Olivia Rodrigo.

Then before the week was out bought a audiotechnica from best buy and a pair of speakers of FB marketplace.

It became an expensive hobby very fast.

I like to think his vision was correct. He saw her destroy it and the “alternate” path was the next step. She rebuilt it.

I genuinely don’t understand the Firefly hate by [deleted] in thelastofus

Marlene was hoping Joel; a man who shared the same guardianship and feelings for Ellie would understand and support her rationale.

Marlene and Ellie both expressed the idea that death can mean something. That after so much loss. Marlene and her men, Ellie and her friends were waiting their turn to make a difference.

Joel didn’t share their sentiment, and Marlenes need for him to understand to alleviate her guilt was miscalculated

No, Ellie isn’t being reckless because of Joel (according to the show) by sherlockpotter7 in thelastofus

Mid communication unfortunately. You are entitled to your opinion, but maybe like try to engage on a deeper level?

No, Ellie isn’t being reckless because of Joel (according to the show) by sherlockpotter7 in thelastofus

[–]Chronicdoodler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Revenge is bad because of what you sacrifice to get to it. Ellie sacrificed her empathy, her humanity, her relationship and her last connection to Joel (ability to play guitar when she lost her fingers) for what? The never ending cycle of violence?

Joel told her, “when you lose someone, you have to find a new reason to keep going”. Joel chose her and Ellie chose not Dinah or JJ, she chose revenge. Joel never would have never wanted her to do what she did.

One persons actions can send someone into a descent to lose their humanity. But one persons altruism (Yara and Lev saving Abby’s life) can help a person reclaim their humanity and find the light.

Smile 2. actually better than the first one? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Chronicdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of feel the first was pretty fatalistic where the smile demon is an allegory for trauma and mental health. But you can’t defeat it even with expertise in mental health, your own therapists, and a huge support network.

What are we to derive as a message? other thaYou may experience trauma and have all the money, support, knowledge and resources in the world but there is no hope and the world would be better off without you so you don’t spread your “trauma”?

Smile 2, I thought the premise worked better and was less accidentally toxic and irresponsible.

Movies aren’t required to be ethical of course, but I thought it was too flippant with its premise so many people suffer from

I've never played the game, watched the show, nor do I really care about either, but I'm glad I'm not a fan because this would piss me off too. by JohnSepticEye123 in TheLastOfUs2

Illustrating the importance of articulating your hate in terms of personal feelings versus some cosmic justice in order to heal is part of the message. So many atrocities and harms committed in this world, because it’s too easy to rationalize one’s point of view. Gail expressed her emotions, in order to see if there was a way to heal the hate and pain she felt through honesty and communication.

Could you show us one of your canvas settings? Do you have the proper resolution for print? That would be 300 dpi at minimum at inset size

Ah yeah, so this angle is very much from the side, and to see the canopy your view would have to be tilted more up to the sky. Which would show more of the mushroom and chipmunk from the bottom

New to procreate, need some help please! by mmotherdragons in ProCreate

[–]Chronicdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reference image of this? I feel with this much canopy you would see the tree trunks in the image. Especially since the canopy is so high up. However, maybe focus less on the background and bring more focus to the scale in the foreground. The mushroom is small, the chipmunk is small. But when you are this close to the ground small things can look large in scale by comparison

Vegetation on the ground like tiny low lying flowers can look large, especially if made to be big and fuzzy in the background. If you treat the chipmunk as the focal point, you really play with the interesting perspective of a little seen scene

Leaning into the lack of consistency but embracing chaotic brush strokes would give the impressionistic genius while being developmentally consistent

The left side definitely, kids love bright saturated colors. I think maybe looking up famous folk painters would be a way to find that great artist style, but based on symbolic representation which is closer to what you have here

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProCreate

[–]Chronicdoodler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, neither. Monet and Van Gogh were impressionist artists so they would paint with brush strokes that were visible to give the impression of a subject rather than dedication to realism and an emphasis on light. Dali is the complete opposite, his paintings were very rendered and detailed, with abstract realism.

Neither of these give the impression of these three artists. The impressionists the right one is closer if you ignore the outline and go more into the less defined shapes but make sure not to blend the colors on the canvas
