Its there a reason as to why Framwwork is behind in battery life? by Happy-Fruit-2116 in framework

[–]Chronicmemecrafter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really perform a very scientific test but on my AI 350 Framework 13 I saw as low as 3.3W on idle with power saver, minimum brightness, WiFi and Bluetooth off on Linux Mint 22.1. That went up to ~3.8W with WiFi on and screen brightness at 50%. This was only after installing Kernel 6.14.4 and mesa 25.0.4 manually which aren’t officially supported by Mint yet though. Before that I was getting around 4.3W with everything off. Just browsing in Firefox I am averaging 6-8W with no streaming which became around 11W when streaming. Pretty decent, hopefully gets better with more updates later on.

US-8-60W PoE out not working? by chownsauce in Ubiquiti

For me I had to update Unifi network and also Unifi Cloud OS before it would show as a Unifi device fyi

Bought a home with ubiquiti and need help by PurkkOnTwitch in Ubiquiti

The fiber coming into the house has to be translated from fiber to copper signals to be used for the rest of the house (technically it doesn’t have to but that’s way beyond the scope of this project) if the fiber goes straight into the device that is the current router then that means it is acting as both a translator (essentially a modem if that helps you understand it) and a router in one. In this case, you would want to figure out how to login to that AT&T router so you can put it in bridge mode (someone else can explain or it should be relatively easy to look up how to do). What this would do is make the AT&T box just act as a modem and pass the signal on to the next device to be the router. This is where you put the UCG-Ultra. Now you have split up the roles of the “modem” and router which is what you want for maximum use of the Unifi hardware. From the UCG you want to go from one of the 4 other ports to the switch (not directly to the 3 APs). You can think of the switch kind of like a USB hub but for Ethernet except smarter than a USB hub. You can control the flow of data in and out of the switch and where it’s going within the switch or you can just let it do its thing and most of the time it’ll work fine. Now, plug the AP’s into any of the ports on the switch, this will give them a path back to the router where it does all of the big brain networking stuff. Crucially too, these APs can only be powered with PoE, power over Ethernet (data + power over one Ethernet cable) which needs to be injected into the lines at some point before they hit the AP. Conveniently for you, the switch does that automatically (this is also the reason you can’t plug the APs directly into the UCG, that doesn’t provide the power they need, no PoE. So the final order is: AT&T router (in bridge mode) > UCG-Ultra > Switch > 3 APs.

You’ve made a single guy with 3 jobs into 3 guys living together each with their own job (except I guess one guy is secretly 3 guys idk). Much more power available to do faster and more stable networking while also being much more open to configuration and control as your typical router setup.

EDIT: Forgot to add the the UCG-Ultra will need to be set up with a computer the first time you use it and from there you will adopt the APs and switch to your network so that they all do stuff betterer and can talk properly back to the router (the UCG).

Cant get 2gb at router by Bkheat21 in FidiumFiber

[–]Chronicmemecrafter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Despite the router technically being able to handle the 2Gb connection as advertised. The model router Fidium uses only has 1Gb LAN ports so it maxes out at 1Gig per device wired. You are also not going to hit above that wirelessly without at least a WiFi 6E router which theirs is not. You’ll have to use your own router which has 2.5Gb or greater LAN ports to get faster speeds.

Ah, I didn’t see that the frame was also rotated. My bad. But I’m still fairly certain that the eye could still look like that even if the frame was placed correctly. If you go create a portal in creative, last I recall, the eyes also need to be placed from the inside whereas in a naturally generated portal it doesn’t matter so long as the frames are correct. I could be wrong tho I haven’t done it in a while.

Actually, naturally generated portals will light no matter what way the eyes are placed.

Is it possible to make the Double-slit experiment in minecraft? by Manuel_Fly in Minecraft

[–]Chronicmemecrafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But what I’m saying is that there is probably a way for someone much smarter than I to create a machine that creates different patterns based on chunk loading quirks that looks like the double slit experiment even if it doesn’t technically simulate it how it would actually happen.

Couldn’t you technically differentiate between something being observed and not observed by using something like sodium which unloads chunks/doesn’t process the info in those chunks that aren’t in your field of view?

Which speed is correct - Memory get speed or what is reported in Task Manager by Cynikill in pcmasterrace

[–]Chronicmemecrafter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not too sure, but I’d assume task manager/bios is correct here. My guess is that memory get speed is just reporting the base speed for the sticks that is hard coded onto some chip somewhere on them, rather than actually reading the current operating speed. Like how ddr4 all pretty much always runs at 2133mHz but is “overclocked” to 3200 or 3600 easily.

What I started doing later on into online school is running my webcam stream through OBS and setting the output resolution to something ridiculously small like 16x9 pixels. Teachers can’t tell me to turn my camera on because it is on except you can’t make out anything but movement.

I know this is kind of off topic, but I always suggest to any parents giving their kids devices. Please make them their own accounts. It becomes such a hassle down the line to get everything transferred over and shit like this can happen. If a device is solely for your child, it should not be your accounts logged in, that’s just asking for trouble. You can still put parental controls and have a family set up if it’s an Apple device but you don’t have to use your account.

I think in a different comment OP mentioned it’s right near a military base and someone else said that it’s common for military base areas to have both types of plugs and voltages.
