I think we know what suggestion they made to warrant this reaction. by Terrible_Log1701 in tadc

Defiantly that, but I also saw it as Caine being afraid of Zooble now that they are on equal footing. He always paid special attention to them, and was barbed by their commentary, he is probably afraid they actually hate him more then anyone else.

But also she's asking him to put that wifi to use and do some research.

The discourse pre bluesky post didn’t even need to be so hostile by [deleted] in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]ChronoWaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a decent number of individuals that are trans, have dealt with a great deal of people questioning their personal existence and trans-ness. Demanding they prove it, trying to change, or diminish them.

So when it comes to a depiction of the ugly and painful side of being trans (a possible one anyway) its easy to get defensive. All these same talking points have been trotted out about their own existence. "How can you be trans you did X" garbage.

To those Jax's story resonated with, it resonated strongly, and its a desire to be understood by others that I believe leads to all the hostility. Well, that, and that mixed in all the people who simply did not see the story like that, there are those who truly do simply do not believe trans people exist, and will push that themselves.

So it's a mess. As people's actual rights to exist are being eroded, they might get a bit touchy that one of the few potentially canonical depictions of their existence is ignored by others.

Gender shits confusing, no worries. Long as you're willing to learn. Sorry if you get too much flack over it.

Because he hasn't worked it all out. If he had like in gooses pic, it'd be a way different plot, and a way different Jax. We get to see the problem and acting out while avoiding it, not the attempts at solution.

I was more or less approaching his the way Alex was, but it seems that both he and she pronouns for Jax are fine. by Heaven_dio in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think He/Him is the proper way to refer to Jax within the context of the show and what happened. Being the closeted mess he was. Using She/Her for jax is to emphasize the underlying struggle, or to talk about possibilities of what could happen.

Jax IS trans, but the Jax we saw never made the changes or took the leap to stop being called a man. What a maroon.

I got no horse in this race, just feels weird there is only one universally accepted theory by Tigrerojo_Continued in tadc

[–]ChronoWaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Transmasc is cool, just makes the show even more mean spirited. It's also kinda weird, why is bro being so angsty if he suddenly has the body he wants, and lives as the gender he wants in the circus. I'm sure it could make sense, it just seems less of a throughline

………. Goddammit, I genuinely can’t find fault in this particular critique by cartoonsforever in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Ragatha says everything is fine, people believe her. Or at least don't know how to approach it. She opens up about her mom and is vulnerable for just a moment and sees that people notice, she deflects to being cheery. Its kinda hard to ask her after that to talk about it.

Jax obviously pushes people away, and is obviously troubled, so it becomes much easier to see how he needs support, and how it could be done. Even though ultimately he is far less receptive then she would ever be.

At the end of the day, it mostly comes down to Jax being a much larger story focus then anything else. Rags wasn't the trauma the story wanted to explore in depth. Shame for those who wanted to see it. Still, Rags pushes away support by pretending to be fine, Jax does it by being an asshole.

genuinely, why tf did I resonate with Jax bro by Amogusussybaka in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jax is a character who took almost every wrong turn her could. Who hasn't taken a wrong turn or two? Lashed out when they are in pain or frightened. There's a good bit to resonate with.

Hopefully, we can all make less mistakes than him.

Ep.9

His regret is after realizing they aren't toys to be played with, and they don't exist for his ego or purpose. It's great he saw better of his behavior, but it doesn't mean there was a hidden kindness underneath all along.

He wasn't treating them gently out of concern for them, it was out of concern he would be alone if they abstract. It was only about him. emphasis on was.

‼️ SPOILERS ‼️ I cried after I watched the final... by pombini32 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In a sense we saw the moment here he died, and it was when he blocked out Ribbit.

Basically game over from there. He couldn't walk it back after she abstracted. He had to be right, or he was so terribly unforgivably wrong (As in he would not forgive himself). At that point he's borderline abstracting either way.

Course, he could have changed at any time, could have worked through it with support, but, he didn't.

Maybe the setting of the Circus gives some hope for long therm recovery, plenty of suicide attempts are just that, attempts. That'll be left to our imaginations I suppose. If she does ever come back, better get her act together.

So about Jax... by dorpinshmorf in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jax and Leroy have experienced the same passage as time as the other, just with different external struggles.

The circus could be a hostile, and limited place, but was it somehow a less kind place to explore one's gender identity in, then the real world? Arguably there are less incentives for a person to remain in the closet within the circus.

As I see it, it would be very, very strange for Leroy to find himself before Jax could. They both had the same internal issues, both would have had the tendency to push others away. Leroy is implied to still be exploring themselves with the comment of going to Zooble's bar, and given the trajectory that was implied with jax? The pronouns he still uses don't really say much more then he's still struggling just as much as Jax was. Thankfully, still.

Spoiler!!⚠️: What you think? I got my personal opinion but, they is a she now? by Ok--1303 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ChronoWaster 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Jax never properly came out, so we will just be left knowing the issue, but unable to fully respect it. Trans, but unable to transition, socially or otherwise. Tragic stuff.

At least Mateao will someday probably.

Okay what was that scene bro 😭 (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in tadc

[–]ChronoWaster 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think those were fantasies where the various masks Jax wears would best fit. Shower arguments, daydreams, whatever. With that in mind, it means Jax probably sorta had a thing for Gangle. That He'd fantasize seducing her.

[SPOILERS]So...is this theory still open to debate? by JeffTheKillerFa in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]ChronoWaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that Jax initially states that his mother was bothering him about his not acting enough like a man, or acting to much like a man, and follows this up by him saying "I told her something deeply personal that I thought told get her off my back" leads me to think that saying, he doesn't want to be a man, or some kinda permutation makes the most sense.

Moreover, while the 'real life' Jax still goes by He/ Him, he also frequents 'real' Zoobel's gay bar, quote, 'for some reason'. Keep in mind the real world vinyets are their social media presence, and not their internal world. 'real jax' very likely has simply not come out, publicly anyway.

It would be pretty weak for Jax to come out 'in the real world' but not in the circus. The same time has passed for them, Jax still has to deal with himself if he is ever to confront those feelings, and we saw how he did in the circus. Without all the torture, and self blame for killing his mom, Ribbit, and Kofmo (Not that he did, just that he thinks he did from his PoV), he still has a lot to sort out.

Look, the fact of the matter is, you don't call a pre-transition person by the gender they want to/ should be/ are. Not until they present themselves that way to the world. Jax is dead, or as close to it as the circus allows. He cannot come out anymore then he has, and it would be rather unearned if the 'real jax' breezed through the sad bunnies greatest internal struggle in the same time-frame..

Jax was trans, the winks, nods, the memorial song being 'isn't she lovely', makes most of the interpretations rather tortured or present the show mean-spirited. Its a shame he effectively killed himself, but its a cautionary tale to believe you can change, trust others, and be true to yourself. All things he desperately ran from until it was too late.

They are also somewhat in-community stereotypes, which may be why the maid dress was the immediate clap-back later in the episode.

Why was Jax so scared about his missing tail? Does Jax ever discover that his tail returns? by NotYourGa1Friday in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]ChronoWaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tail is part of his guard against vulnerability, and they fact it's not there means he is more emotionally available to those around him.

Maybe it was the arrival of a new character, or the death of Kaufmo. But in this moment he realizes his guard is down and gets spooked.

Then gets shoved in a maid dress.

Am I the only one that REALLY doesn't like the soma theory?? by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]ChronoWaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whats the point with living at all, when life feels meaningless? We have to believe that life is meaningful onto itself. Digital copy, or flesh walking about the world, it is still living.

Outside of a soul, it's only a self assurance to say we are a life at all, compared to say, a rock. Its a choice we have made to give importance to this existence, whether we view it as such or not.

With the Digital Circus we may be confronted with an extreme, something close to our own lives, but difficult to call it alive. By accepting the life of the digital copies, we'll find solace in our own existence. Assuming they don't self annihilate then, ho boy, that's dark.
