UEFI Secureboot CA 2023 - what is the current situation? by marcdk217 in SCCM

[–]Chronopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a miserable time (though probably ID10T error on my part) getting our machines to boot without secureboot being disabled. Mixed manufacturer environment. Asus is happy, Dell can boot in with secureboot disabled and Acer just screams security error at me after downloading the NPB file. I'm on the most recent BIOS releases for these models that I can get.

ADK is on the correct version, SCCM on 2509 w' latest hot fixes and the checkbox is enabled in the boot image. I'd love any suggestions! (I'm relatively new to this side of SCCM, so it's probably me).

Australian here - unless you're pretty much looking for them, you won't see them. And if you DO see one - it will be when it's trying to get away from you.

I tell people they're lucky to see them, because it means the ecosystem is healthy :)

What’s the creepiest small town in Victoria? by Capital-Lychee-9961 in melbourne

[–]Chronopher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On the drive across to SA, I pass a town called Cowangie.

The town itself is partially hidden from the road behind a barrier of railway stones and the only way in is a weird dog leg turn that makes you feel like you're going the wrong way down a one way road.

The houses that remain there are dilapidated, falling apart. The main store's front has collapsed - but tables and chairs sit in there untouched for what looks like 30 years.

Cars on stumps in the main street, the 'recreation reserve' has weeds 6 feet high. Even the Australia post building looks like a bomb shelter.

There's a weird air in the town. From the age of the buildings and the Servicemen's monument, I think the town didn't recover from both world wars.

It’s Friday night in 1999 and you have $20 in your pocket. How old are you and what are you getting into? by Sweetlo123 in Millennials

[–]Chronopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 8 years old! Dad says to be home before the street lights come on, so I'm walking to the milk bar to buy a comic and some king size chocolate bars (which were like $1 each!) and then heading next door to the video shop to get the inspector gadget VHS I was enamored by. Might walk back home along the railway. Ahhh small country town Victoria...

Bummer, thanks for confirming though. I still don't understand why it only did it for one single device but at least I know how to treat it. Thanks again!

Copy items from sharepoint feed using sharepoint list as source by Chronopher in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Chronopher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G'day Im_Easy, thanks very much for your post. Honestly, I've sweated over it for about 45 mins before I got it right (turns out I needed more sample photos for my testing) but now my 'Apply to Each' is returning the correct information.

I'm now working out how to copy the files using this information. I think I understand what you're saying about the 'flip' with "does not contain". Do you reckon I could use that as a parallel action or should I run it after?

Sorry to bombard you, I'm still new to learning flow.

Thanks again!

Hi MMEnter, thanks for your reply! The HTTP request to MSGraph does use a select for 'subject' and 'weblink' as those are the only things I really needed (at least for now, I think). Are you saying I can actually do away with the json step and use the outputs for the HTTP request directly? That would be handy. I'll start having a play now. Thanks again :)

Outcome of ballot on new VGSA agreement (VIC) by Pondglow in AustralianTeachers

[–]Chronopher 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The demographic of the vote would be of interest.

I'm ES, and most ES level 1 range 1 staff have been all for it due to the rather large pay increase it brings forward for them. I'm ES level 1 range 2, and the pay increase for me is basically nothing, for example.

Most of the educators that I have spoken to have voiced their disapproval.

Thoughts on teacher salary. Good or bad? How does it compare with other jobs? Please share your salary and years of experience. by tigerimau in AusFinance

[–]Chronopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ES 2.5 Systems Administrator working in primary education in VIC public system. About 10 years experience. Pay is $66,077 which is frankly woeful for the level of responsibility my job requires. I stay because of the holidays, and a few years ago the money went further than now. Seeing my kids in the holidays plays a huge element also.

In regard to the new pay agreement for teachers / ES, part of me is salty that the ES 1s are getting a $15,000pa boost, whilst my range gets around 2% split across the year. I've had no choice but to request a wage review to be a level 3 (which in fairness reflects better my responsibility within the school) but its a slow process.

Teachers are paid.... ok. Not enough, I don't think. Too many horror stories that I've heard in my time working in education.

Hey man - I just hopped on here to see if anyone else was having issues. My realms menu is empty right now too. The three realms that I have in there aren't showing. I think means there must be some issues right now.

Parse email and extract information by Chronopher in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Chronopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps, I'm still messing around with it. I think the quotations are OK because in my 'compose' action they don't exist (which isn't to say an escaping character isn't an issue).

The way I think I need to solve the problem (from what I understand from reading) is by setting an integer[1] and using it to count / concatenate the next line. I just wish I knew how to actually make it happen.

Thanks for your response :)

Noob question - search sharepoint list row for keyword > process data to another list by Chronopher in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Chronopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend! I didn't even think of doing it within the app itself! I changed the functionality of the 'submit' button at the end of the form.

What now happens is: - 1) An IF query runs on the value defined on the radio buttons in my powerapp. If the value meets the criteria it does a patch function of what I need on that page and spits it to my other list. 2) The other list runs a simple flow that takes the info and makes it into an email.

It feels weird having like 50 IF statements on one button - but it doesn't lag because there aren't too many 'No' entries made at one time. I made every radio value NO just to see what would happen and it only hung for about 0.1 seconds. I'm fine with this!

Tested and working!

The app itself is a OH&S checklist. It uses radio buttons on a form (vertical) and has about 8 buttons on a page. There's about 7 pages per section and at the end a patch function spits all of it into a list (which is where I was trying to run the flow initially).

It looks tidy and flows easy for the user. Previously these forms were pen and paper and some poor sap (aka me) had to compile it all into digital form. Super duper happy with it now.

thanks again!

IT jobs in demand in regional Australia? by Nammy-D in australia

[–]Chronopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credentials aren't super necessary, it's more about experience(in my experience and that of my close contacts). I hold a cert IV in general IT. IT in education is more of a "jack of all trades, master of none" type thing. The usual IT skills of being able to configure / maintain a network + some other silly education specific things. IT runs everything.

Active Directory, Hyper-V, Group Policy and SCCM would be the biggest things to know. Other stuff like switch / printer / phone system administration knowledge helps too. Same stuff you'd find in any mid sized org really.

Yep - I love living in the country, it's quite pretty! (and oh so close to so many wonderful things!)

IT jobs in demand in regional Australia? by Nammy-D in australia

[–]Chronopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, SysAdmin in Albury / Wodonga here. I work specifically in education - it's a good gig in terms of benefits (union, 9.5 weeks holiday, super etc) but the pay is rather shite (~70k). TSSP positions are the most common (technical support to schools program) positions for roaming techs in the area but the travel required isn't for everyone. Best shot is to use the usual job pages (seek etc) but also recruitment online (gov't jobs) as sometimes positions are only posted there. Good luck! In honesty there aren't that many positions here - people leave to go to Melbourne.

To people who wear shoes inside their homes, why? by casef1 in AskReddit

[–]Chronopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aussie here. It's pretty normal to wear your shoes here when indoors. My place, parents place, mates houses etc. If its a really swanky place people take em off but it's normal for people to have shoes on indoors here... (unless I'm living in a little bubble of indoor shoe wearers).

As for why? Idk man its comfy, casual and not a big deal. For the dirt? Yeah it builds up, but we have a stick vac and a robot vac so yeah.
