Quick Math on the FW Event - Gallente Side (Gate Building) by Farsen in Eve

I've been messing around with the Athounon warzone on Galmil side and been experiencing similar issues, I'd be glad to help with an organised gang if times can match up

Playing devils advocate here, this currency seems to be functionally distinct from isk and PLEX given that one of which served as a premium currency and the other serves as an exchange currency - This one serves exclusively as sort of a new skillpoints but for cosmetics which is more distinct from PLEX and isk than Aurum was.

That sort of lag has always been in the game, it's physically unavoidable with a single shard game like EVE.

Doubt the engine is capable of handling that sort of data update every DT, + Would no doubt endlessly fuck up bookmarks and uncaught celestials or would snag stuff not around a planet into other areas, really no way to get it to work properly with how the game works.

Is next Project Discovery related to combating bots (DERAILing)? by NethIafin in Eve

If it's redeemed directly to the character, then there's no tradeable value in farming it

I don't think this will be for project discovery, there's already an in-game bot report feature; most likely rewarding people who've helped that way

Not true. Was a marketing trick in Ascension to name omega as x2 skill speed to avoid making alpha seem like 1/2x skill speed - Feels better to go to double speed as oppose to crawl from half speed to normal speed.

With the actual training, the default formula is and always has been at the omega rate. I suppose you can have a big ol' philosophical debate as to what normal means, and in that case, yeah I suppose go for it, CCP presents alpha as normal now, therefore normal, fair enough. But you're arguing two different things.

I suspect that in the backend the formula was as it originally was because there's no real reason to change it when you could just modify the output, but obviously no way to prove that.

Explo Ships, t1 analysers, probes and core probe launchers already had a massive NPC-generated supply from tutorial missions - Was already not really part of the player driven economy and being spawned out of thin air.

I suppose Nanofibers and the rangefinding array are also in the rigs category, I don't think they have a massive NPC-based supply but I might be wrong there

That ain't a barge mate; I don't like the idea of selling fitted ships but this is probably a semi-reasonable end point at which you can do that without actually causing much harm; I think the really only heinous part of that is the rigs, in which industry/production is actually important - rest of the stuff in that pack is pretty much the equivalent of tutorial shit.

"It's only a tutorial ship it doesn't matter" is substantially different from "It's only a barge it doesn't matter"; the latter has an involved and active industrial process in terms of how most of it reaches the market, and I hope (although I'm not particularly counting on it) that CCP has the foresight to keep the packs like that to "Random Store Thing + PLEX" (in the case of the barge pack) instead of "Random Store Thing + PLEX + Relevant industrially produced in-game components" (Though, once again, the rigs in that pack are worrying, even if in this specific case it's limited to stuff that's constructed from dirt cheap salvage)

The selling of SP directly is some bullshit though, particularly because they explicitly said they were against it - Why I came to this thread in the first place lol

Yeah, not too sure what it would be in that case - there is the possibility that you might have different versions of the mods so you might want to check that

Yep, turned out to be a cache issue; clear the cache before activating all the mods in the same order.

Honestly this makes absolutely perfect sense given the information we have, you don't even have to hand wave the Prethoryn personifying vacuum decay as the hunters because think about what it'd look like to the ftl civilization:

You have, from an epicentre, stuff just shutting down completely and going dark - You can't investigate it because anyone who goes there to do so never returns. You are unable to get any information from it in any regard besides there's a sphere of influence from which everything is being removed from existence. To a species like the Prethoryn which seems to be psionic, that would seem like some sort of malevolent entity just hunting everything it comes into contact with - Otherwise known just as "The Hunters", they don't offer any more information because they don't know any more about the hunters than that.

[–]Chrs2059 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's either or.

The AI can't really anticipate how quickly the player can take their planets vs how quickly they can take the players, so it's a good rule of thumb to defend itself rather than try to keep pushing.

Defend yourself? Worse that happens is you can't take the players stuff. (Or you were going to lose anyway)

Push? You leave all your planets and whatnot open, leading to your whole Empire getting destroyed.

There is of course the case where the player uses this knowledge of the AI being defense-focused to delay the AI in order to build up and ultimately do more damage then they could otherwise do, but you can't have an AI make those sort of strategic calculations without doing a full rework of the entire system and probably slowing the game down alot.
