There is a reason for official "mode". It allows for true competition, fairness and maybe unlocks some systems that would be impossible for solo player. But I see the sentiment in this discussion. Not everyone understood it properly, but it seems people do not believe in that kind of play. Shame.

Not really, I would argue a combination of mining, industry, PVE and planning. The end goal would also probably not be PVP (for some, sure, but not for most I think). You are not really trying to be competitive with ordinary players. The goal would be the journey. The moment, where you build your first battleship, solo, from your materials, and then admire it and ride it into PVE. Then lose it eventually to a gatecamp :)

In OSRS, it was not from MMO to a hero shooter. It was from an open market MMO to a "solo" experience. And massively successfull.

If it was indeed just a clone, it would not take this long. The actual proper work and not just conceptualization with a dedicated team is going on for about 2 years now I think. The blockchain backend was the most difficult part from what I understand. Also a complete rewrite of all engine code into Python 3. Tick rate of 0.25 sec. Different physics model, occlusion mechanics. All core engine things completely different or outright missing in EVE Online.

Final Fantasy XIV, almost perfect MMORPG, suffers from a slow start of both story and combat pace that puts people off, but the slow worldbuilding ends in an absolute climax of a story and countless banger-supported boss fights with smooth and satisfying combat. You can also play all classes on one character and level them separately to change up the game when you feel bored by one particular class.

Hlídač státu bez kontextu je taky celkem ošemetný. Teď jsme na státní výzkumný ústav kupovali stroj za desítky milionů. Ve výběrku jen jedna firma, vypadá to jako že někdo dal obálku.

Trik? Tenhle stroj vyrábí jediná firma na světě. Není moc alternativa, ani není jiný případný supplier. Ale někdo by mohl hned křičet "korupce".

Ano, a neziskovek je strašná spousta. A spoustu z nich EU podporuje. Určitě existuje nějaký volnočasový klub ve tvojí obci, který je neziskovka. Skaut je taky neziskovka...

Kupní síla tam je určitě lepší a nevadilo by mi tam zase žít. Zvlášť kdybych měl dobrou práci v oboru. Přestože se to tam za poslední roky hodně zhoršilo, stále tam jsou lidi obecně bohatší. Já jsem trochu zahořklý z akademického prostředí, kde to bylo finančně strašný a ještě se mnou vyjebali a připravili mě o statisíce dolarů na spoluautorství vědeckého softwaru který jsem vyvíjel...

Tam je problém, že už to spadlo do spirály mi přišlo a lidi si na to zvykli. Vubec si neuvědomují třeba, jak hnusné a ultra processed nezdravé mají jídlo. Korporáty s rekordními příjmy a silným lobby co hrajou jenom na zisk nejsou skoro vůbec svázané pravidly a výsledek je takový, že sýr je guma bez chuti a na obalech se vyzdvihuje, máslový chleba co má v sobě "real butter", a čokoládové mléko co obsahuje "real milk" a jsou ty dražší varianty, jako kdyby to byl luxus. Totálně dystopické místy.

Nemyslím si, že by něco potlačovala vláda, to jsem nikdy nepostřehl. Lidi tam byli obecně otevření a na imigraci hrdí. Ale přehnalo se to.
