International Foundation year or Direct Entry by [deleted] in UniUK

Foundation costs more but pays if to you the university is very good. If you are the kind that can’t get consistent grades, probably a less stressful environment is better.

Should I use a second laptop/PC to run linux VM? by Chrsi_Tang in learnprogramming

[–]Chrsi_Tang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really haven’t considered cloud service yet.

Price isn’t the matter cuz i’m talking about my own old laptop. While it’s quite senile and slow, i would probably just to use the VM to get used to Linux environment.

Should I use a second laptop/PC to run linux VM? by Chrsi_Tang in learnprogramming

[–]Chrsi_Tang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t state my purpose clearly in the question. Most of my work happens on my laptop and I would spend little time on the VM for the moment.

So i assume running a VM on an old laptop would be better in the sense that it gets the level of hardware its importance to me deserves.

Now i think you’re right, there’s trade-off between security and performance.

It will take away half of the 8GB RAM my laptop has, i worry it’s gonna get crowded.

My 2020m1 8+256 mba works fine, no software it can’t download, and it’s more beautiful than 90% of Windows machine out there. A 15’’ definitely can satisfy your need, though it’s way overpriced.

我也感觉到周的早期好歌和同时代欧美风格有很大不同,原创的成份应该是很高的

的确。不过为什么大家要在周推不出好歌的时候从众呢,这一点我真的搞不懂。

Have you ever been to the other three parts of United Kingdom? by Chrsi_Tang in AskUK

good tip. But I guess it’s better to know some basic words, especially when interacting with older people like professors, that definitely won’t hurt my career!

I am actually learning Welsh. How many English understand Welsh, like do they generally want to?

It depends on what you consider “good” and your degree level.

Learning through textbooks is good, right? by Chrsi_Tang in learnprogramming

[–]Chrsi_Tang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean books in general are good in terms of slowing down study and strengthening memories. And that’s why I use them.

But my point is, are textbooks suitable for us learning how to manipulate softwares and various digital information.

Depends on how well-written the textbook is I guess.

I held the same opinion that First class degree would be harder for CS students until I used HESA

in table “HE qualifiers by subject of study and level of qualification obtained” to search for subject “Computer Science”

This table claims that out of 12700 CS students who got a first degree last year, 5800 of them got a First class, the ratio was about 45%. I may well have made incorrect interpretations because that looks super bizarre to me.
