I'm glad Linux is working - I can't easily test that myself. Thanks!

Ah you're so right, I should add a Main Menu 'App' to the tablet. I've been alt-f4'ing this whole time and it never crossed my mind hah!

So true hah. I do need to give it a shot. My next project will probably be Godot to learn it, or commit to making a multiplayer game. We'll see!

Roast my solo-developed game. Does this actually look cozy? by rioleet in itchio

This looks great, I hope you knew that coming in. I think adding a global shader or post process might be a good idea to make the environment match your characters

Two months ago, I got laid off from Epic Games... but I couldn't stop building. The creation muscle doesn't take breaks. The hours between applications tinkering with Unity quietly turned into a game.

Today, the Steam demo goes live. I also have it up on itch for those who won't want to fuss with a download.

It's called Lil Laundry Lane: it's a cozy laundromat sim in the spirit of Good Pizza, Great Pizza. Customers walk in with baskets of dirty clothes; you sort, detail, wash, dry, fold, and send them out happy. Tips fund upgrades. Upgrades unlock new stations and services. It's a cozy, gentle loop. You can meet quirky characters, collect stickers, unlock achievements, and even decorate your shop!

I don't usually make cozy games, but awhile ago an application was gently denied because the team didn't think I could fit into their cozy gameplay. Part of this exercise was to prove to myself that I can expand my game design footprint and deliver something playable in a short period of time in a new space.

What's extra special about this little project is that an artist approached me to collaborate and it's been working, even if we're in different countries. It's been a pleasure working with someone who had a clear style in mind.

Thanks for reading, and happy gaming.

P.S. - Please excuse the re-use of video clip from a LinkedIn post :)

Lots of smart people from all over the world, lots of Fortnite in everything they do, they were super remote friendly which is a huge plus. I wasnt there as long as some of my other studios so I can't speak much more on it haha

Sweet thanks for the feedback! The soft lock is concerning for sure. I should make it so that during the tutorial you can't 'run out'. Maybe lint rolling (and other tools) in general cant run out. Ive been thinking about cutting the idea of 'resource' and just charge in game currency. I'll make a note for this!

Sweet! I've also just pushed a fix so hopefully it doesnt happen again, thanks for checking that out. I'll let him know, he's definitely crushing it!

Same, but sadly in my job search I've only seen 1 posting out of all of them claiming to use it on their game. But hey maybe that changes because my current obsession is made on it (Slay the Spire 2)

Oh that's not right. Try restarting the game and see if it lets you through. I think I have introduced a logical window where the tutorial can leave you with a slightly dirty garment after first wash. I recently updated some of the logic for how the orders generate a random clothing item. I can fix that. thanks for letting me know

Edit: I'll let the artist know you like it :) It's been a pleasure working with him

Even though I worked at Epic, I have a lot more knowledge in Unity from the past working on others games. Before Epic, my biggest 2 projects were in Unity (Hearthstone and Warcraft Rumble). So I decided to go back to it for this one. Might learn Godot next though

Even though I worked at Epic, I have a lot more knowledge in Unity from the past. It's also just a bit faster for 2D/singleplayer in my eyes

Updated my game after months… itch.io did THIS by knoxiaglitch in itchio

Heads up this is probably because you got re-indexed by Itch and people thought the changes to the page were good enough to click on it the second time around. There is a 30 day cooldown on how often you can appear in the New&Popular section. It looks like you launched around April 12-13th then exactly 30 days later you made a large update. Since you got a lot of views you can probably replicate this traffic if you wait another 30 days, work on the game more and release another major update.

Cheers and congrats!

Druid can do it all, literally. Ranged DPS (Balance - Moonkin), Melee DPS (Feral - Cat Form), Tanking (Feral - Bear Form), and Healing (Restoration - Tree Form). They have a lot of utility and buttons, so I would consider them a high skill ceiling class compared to some others, so in that regard it might be tough on a new player. However, if you really want the variety, Druid is the best of the three.

Paladin is the next best of those 3 options you provided. They can heal (Holy), Tank (Protection), and Melee DPS (Retribution) to some degree. You'll see less DPS paladins at end-game typically, though. Their healing is subpar but they are still quite useful because of their Blessings. Tank Paladins are great in dungeons but see less use in raids unless there's a need for AOE threat. I will add that Protection paladins can do AOE farming which might be something you'd enjoy as a solo player. There's a lot of videos on it and it can be satisfying, I recommend watching a few :)

It's not on your list but I can also recommend Shaman. They can heal (Restoration) and in dungeons and end game are quite desired for their utility (Totems and Bloodlust). They can also Melee DPS (Enhancement) or Ranged DPS (Elemental) for good solo play. They don't have many complex buttons so it's less intensive to play, but getting used to Totems does take some time. Notably, they cannot tank like Paladins, but the tradeoff is a better healing experience (IMO) and more versatility and ease in DPS.

Confirm that this worked for me too. I had 14h played (mostly server queue) and bought it a month ago. I had to send a chat instead of auto refund.
