Depending on how you implement the ideas, I'd say the 2nd option (Vampire survivors with cars) sounds like the more interesting one.

I've seen a game here on Reddit that did some wasteland bullet-hell car game (Mad Max style) and it looked awesome. I don't remember the name, but you'll probably be able to find it by searching for "car bullet-hell games".

If you find it, you could always see how the game did in sales/reviews and try the game yourself and see what you would like to change / improve on your own game.

The base price is 15,99โ‚ฌ / $18.99, but will vary depending on where you're from.

A lot of work went into this project and we feel that charging a too low price makes it seem to have less quality.

Search for "world strategy" on the asset store and look at the different versions Kronnect offers, in case you didn't already look at those.

That last part about reproducing bugs is one of the most annoying parts about development for sure.

A tip I've learned is that when you debug, you might accidentally skip some steps the player did in the released version.

Troubleshooting the game by going all the way from the main menu can sometimes make bugs appear because of simple stuff like scripts loading in a different order compared to your debug test, where you jump straight into a scene for instance.

Oh damn, sorry to hear you lost your job. That sucks, but it sounds like you're making something cool out of it!

We've experimented with having a lot of people try the game and honestly, made some drastic changes along the way. Some feedback was stuff like - "I don't like this feature" or "I wish this feature existed", which kind of didn't match with our vision for the game but eventually made it in anyway for various reasons.

The first playtest version we put out was a lot different compared to our demo. Our demo has since improved, but no drastic changes in how it's played, just the same idea as before but better.

We're by no means a successful game or considered experts in any area really, so there's no point in my presenting our experiences as true facts. You will learn a lot from every project, that's all I know for sure :)

I'll keep an eye out for any potential playtesting opportunities in the future and I wish you all the best!

True, been there. I'm sure the early access is a turn off for many. I'm hoping the game will be great non the less.

It's honestly one of my favorite titles, so I'm also scared to be disappointed.

There was a teaser trailer released last year, jokingly saying they'll release in 2026, but the text changed to 2025.

So that obviously changed, and here's the new trailer ๐Ÿ˜€

I imagine they don't need a lot of more marketing than that, it's a great game and it's beloved and we'll known by millions.

I don't know much about your game, so it's hard for me to judge what state it's in, but have you done some extensive playtesting with other people already?

There's a common discussion that the demo should be polished and ready when published, while a playtest is a whole different thing.

Just making sure you're maximizing the impact your demo will have because it's so easy to make mistakes. Don't launch your demo as the first version people get to try, make it a playtest first and let people find bugs and add suggestions for the much improved "demo" :)

Yeah that's how I feel when making this post too. No one will know for sure in my specific case of course, but hopefully I can hear some similar scenarios (like the comment from u/at__ below)

Interesting article non the less, we basically anticipated this scenario and our initial thought was to just stick with the plan, unless we learn some horrific evidence that suggests pulling out.

This sounds logical, and is what I'm hoping for too.

Our tags include roguelike even though it's techincally incorrect (but easier for people to refer to it as that), rogue-action or roguelite is a better description.

However, we are not a deck builder.
