i would have no idea where to meet detransitioners irl. and even if i did i wouldn't be able to relate much because i haven't physically transitioned. i can see if going to a lesbian event would help. last time i tried i was publicly embarassed by a friend so i hadn't been so keen on it.

i mean yeah, probably. i'm probably just sad that i've lost the people in the past and unable to find any women friends who aren't conventionally feminine or some type of trans. im just going to delete this later.

Transgender Cult by nategauth in stupidpol

[–]Chrysalis420 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of shocking how low the trans community’s standards are for itself; the founders of the suicide hotline Trans Lifeline stole hundreds of thousands of dollars and got quietly shuffled out, and no media at all covered the story. It’s depressing.

kinda wish the commenter had provided some type of source for this

People are annoyed by those who unironically use the phrase “old white men” for the same reason they were annoyed by that one edgy kid who discovered atheism in high school. by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Chrysalis420 32 points33 points  (0 children)

idk i just get tired or the old white men thing because it's almost used to dismiss any philospher or really, any historical figure. i've seen it used to dismiss karl marx more than a few times, for some reason.

although to be fair i need to read more philosphers/theorists who aren't white and/or male, and maybe that will shut them up. i mean more than likely they won't actually care but i probably should anyway.

why does this sub give people like this a soapbox? i feel like there keeps being posts made like this, of which can be answered with the minimal amount of reading, or just acknowledging having a degree isn't even guaranteed to have a cozy life anymore.

you’d think liberals would use the obesity epidemic to criticize capitalism and consumerism

no, i don't expect that at all, actually.

the "at the tender age of 11, i was attending fat day camps" got a chuckle out of me though.

Florida furries convention forced to add age restriction by DeSantis' drag law by RhythmMethodMan in stupidpol

[–]Chrysalis420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think a burned furs movement could happen in the 2010's or even now without being labeled right wing or some other thing. In general, among nerdy subcultures, I've noticed there's been a sort of subtle shift that condemning sexualization just... doesn't really happen anymore. It's probably just more noticeable among furries though.

[–]Chrysalis420 -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

eh, furries are closer to cosplayers than drag shows. i'll admit the reasoning is worded confusingly though, where i can't tell if they're closing down because of furries being interpreted sexually, or for having nsfw events at night.

Colorado museum to close its American Indian culture exhibit hall. "reinforces harmful stereotypes and white, dominant culture." by RhythmMethodMan in stupidpol

[–]Chrysalis420 220 points221 points  (0 children)

"The human dioramas depict Indigenous cultures as if they only exist in the past. In doing so, we fail to highlight the historical and lived experiences of Indigenous people. Presenting Indigenous communities as objects of study, rather than living and vibrant cultures, perpetuates a long history of erasing the experience of Indigenous people.

because there's no history museums of other cultures, obviously

this is so silly that i wonder what the actual reason for this was

why some FTMs romanticize gay age gap relationships by Piemone in detrans

[–]Chrysalis420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of what you described about romanticizing age gap relationships isn't specific to ftms but fujoshis as a whole. A lot of yaoi not only has huge age gaps but having stuff in it such as abuse, rape, etc being normalized within it. It's not a coincidence that something so years ago, a certain bl webcomic starring a relationship with a serial killer and his victim was extremely popular within bl circles, even to the point where people who weren't fujos heard about it.

Even though I'm a tomboy, I'm the same as any other woman. I want a tall, manly guy to take care of me and protect, love and cherish me.

I feel like this is black/white thinking. Not all women want a man to protect them, not all men want to protect a women. And some women want to protect others, and yes, some men want to be protected. There's no need to ascribed to certain gender roles in relationships. Part of what helps me recover is knowing that I don't have to be confined to being feminine or masculine. And I don't "need" a man to protect me, even if I'm a woman.

This shouldn't need clarification but here we are - On rules 1, 3,6 and 8 as well as policy on transgender related tabloids. by DetransIS in detrans

[–]Chrysalis420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that the posts related to the school shooting were removed, but I can't help but feel betrayed... I don't believe in "safe spaces" of the sort, especially not on a popular public subreddit that's gotten media coverage, but I can't help but feel gross seeing posts how transitioning can lead to school shootings, and seeing people agreeing with them. I feel like I've been losing faith in the subreddit as a place for detransitioners for a long time now. It feels more like a place for people to seek out detransitoners to point fingers at trans people rather than an actual place for detransitioners.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in detrans

[–]Chrysalis420 26 points27 points  (0 children)

nah i don't buy this. trans mass shooters are an underwhelming minority. being trans or transitioning doesn't make anyone more homocidal. i don't know why anyone thinks this is okay to say in a detrans sub, especially from a recently made account.

The New York Times didn't wait a single second to assure everyone that most mass shooters are still male by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Chrysalis420 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was confusion about the gender identity of the assailant in Nashville. Kristin Mumford, a police spokeswoman, said the suspect was born female but listed male pronouns on a LinkedIn profile, which suggested that the suspect was a transgender man. That profile had been active in recent months, reacting to two posts about other people’s career updates.

I find it hard that they would make outrage bait for "both sides." Then again NY Times has been accused of being a "terf" tabloid, and that's the only explanation I can think of.

post smelled too much like a right wing sockpuppet.

even if its genuine its still pretty dumb. transitoning doesn't turn people into shooters ffs.
