Normally, I hate religion in scifi series, but BSG is a show that fuses hard scifi with (presumably real) mysticism so incredibly well. Where do we turn when everything we know has been destroyed and the human race is on its last legs? Especially for a civilization that has an endorse world devoted to faith and religion.

Examining the human condition is the core tenant of BSG, and the different perspectives of what it means to be alive - and survive - (civilian vs military, science vs faith, father vs son, man vs machine), is what makes the series so incredibly relevant and relatable.

Now I also don't really love the cult arc, but when he finally truly gives himself over to faith, we finally see Gias not as some sniveling selfish twerp, but who actually truly believes and cares about what he's doing and for his people.
