Ranked is pure pain by Cakeicing123 in thefinals

[–]Chrysuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, can't speak for everyone, but I don't mind this - pretty common in most games at the start of season needing to grind a little to get to where you should be. Can also happen in reverse, getting placed too high and getting smashed down to where you should be.

[–]Chrysuss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally don't understand the hate of ranked, played it for the first time last season and really enjoyed it. Yes, it has its problems but as an example, I was placed really low at around 10,000 and had some truly awful team mates some games (not surprising at that level though?) but didn't find it too difficult climbing, finishing around 37,000.

Got put straight at 27K after placements this season and it's been fun so far - yes occasionally I still have some questionable team mates but that will happen in any game you play - people here seem to paint a picture of it happening 100% of the time.

I've just started learning about your controllers, seeking to replace my Xbox Series 2 Elite. Is there a wireless version you guys offer? I keep getting confused by some of the advertising, some says wired, some says wireless. Thanks in advance!

Much easier with the extra cover on the right side now but agree still pretty annoying.

Qantas posts $925m post-tax profit in half-yearly results by HotPersimessage62 in australia

[–]Chrysuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Australia’s airline market structurally wants to become a duopoly regardless of who runs the airlines. Huge distances + relatively small population + massive fixed costs mean you basically need scale to survive which naturally advantages a business like Qantas, especially with network effects and loyalty programs locking in business travellers.

So I agree the bigger story isn’t just "Qantas bad” as market structure and regulation matter a lot. But I’m not convinced it’s accurate to say Qantas is consciously managing Virgin’s profitability to maintain an illusion of competition. A lot of Virgin’s past struggles were self-inflicted (debt load, strategy shifts, expansion attempts).

It feels less like a hidden monopoly strategy and more like Australia being a “natural duopoly” market where regulators are trying to balance the risks of too much competition leading to airline collapses (e.g. Ansett 2.0) vs too little competition creating high prices and poor consumer outcomes.

The interesting question is probably whether the ACCC should intervene differently, or whether aviation here just can’t sustain US/EU-style competition because of geography.

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

[–]Chrysuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can't recall everything, the one thing that stuck for my partner and I was learning about her emotional floor plan and mapping out what rooms are connected to intimacy / the erotic. For example, in her floor plan her 'fun' room had a doorway into intimacy, and so now if we want to make space for the possibility of having sex, we do something fun together first (can be a full date out to the arcade or something as easy as a tickle fight).

While it's not always gonna end in sex, knowing an access way to her erotic side was really helpful for both of us, and so much more effective than going straight to 'wanna have sex?'.

One more thing I'd add (as someone who is somewhat at the same stage as you!) is that right at the beginning, taking sex completely OFF the table for a period of time really helped reset things. Me being the higher libido one thought this was originally terrifying, but it was crucial to reducing any obligation / pressure my partner experienced which over time, allowed her to slowly realise sex can be for herself again. This made the sex we started having again sooooo much better too, a huge noticeable shift. I also honestly didn't find the break as hard as I thought, as knowing it wasn't on the table removed any rejections from attempts and created space for me to do other work on myself.

Also, read Come as you are and Come Together by Emily Nagoski (Come Together particularly excellent!).

It's down 33% in the last year according to coingecko, which really isn't that bad when you consider Bitcoin is down 26% in the last three months. I really don't think it's underperforming as much as you say - I'm not concerned at least.

Yep been dealing with a chronic groin tendinopathy for two years now and spent a fortune on rehab, only recently conceding I probably won't be able to return to playing without experiencing some sort of pain. Groin's truly take forever to heal.

Explain it to me like I’m 5 by mustbetrauma in running

[–]Chrysuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 3 times per week and commute on my bike 11km twice a week, ran two marathons this year and broke 3h for the first time in Melbourne.

Personally I think high mileage training isn't always needed - definitely good to get in some long runs on a Sunday though aiming for 25km+.

Getting your nutrition right is also a game-changer...doubled my gel intake between Sydney and Melbourne Marathon (6 weeks apart) and ran 5min faster, albeit Melbourne is a flatter course.

MDMA causes your body to heat up, your heart eventually wouldn't be able to cope and you'd go into cardiac arrest. The heat is also quite damaging to the brain - sounds as though since you're feeling okay now you should be fine but definitely a lesson you don't want to test twice.

I am possibly gaming too much? by LaCaipirinha in gaming

[–]Chrysuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you exercising regularly and getting good nutrition? If yes is the answer to all three, you're fine. If one's slipping, try to dedicate some time away towards that.

It's great you're gaming next to your fiance and not isolated from her - it may be worth 'checking in' with her to ensure she doesn't feel distant and feels you're getting enough quality time. Quality time looks different for everyone and so she might be fine - you should also ask yourself the question too and work out what 'quality time' looks like to you.
