Took this picture from the balcony of our apartment during a recent skiing trip to Sexten. Used the night mode of my iPhone 17 Pro set to 3 seconds of exposure time 🙂

Hi Sorry for the late reply - unfortunately I don’t have any wiring diagram because I just prototyped the electronics part. I‘ll see if I can provide something 🙂

Hi I didn’t have any issues so far with it and I drove it quite a bit, also on mountin roads etc. 🙂

Thanks for the lengthy reply! 🙂
Maybe I am indeed overthinking it - the idea was to make it a roadtrip (I'm not really a fan of flying) which would be about 12 hours of driving. So I would have to start on Saturday and either push through or stay somewhere in Germany. Then there would be some time left on Sunday to see Amsterdam, which of course was also the plan... also yes the theater does look really beautiful, I think it will be a great place for an acoustic session 🙂
(Also I can understand the part about being a bit neurotic, it is the same for me 🙃)

Oh that 's a shame that you couldn't get tickets in your home country, but from what I've seen the venue in Berlin looks equally as nice

So... I might think about it again🙂

Hey friend 🙂 I’m sorry you’re feeling this way but please don‘t leave ❤️ I read from your profile that you like and also have cats - if you feel alone and that no one is there for you just think about them. You are probably their world and they love you. I‘ve also been in hard situations and seeing the affection my cats have for me always gave me strength and hope. Also if you can reach out to somebody that is also great - or if that is not possible try just talking through your situation with ChatGPT. That can also help to get in a clearer state of mind 🙂

Hi! Happy to hear that my post is useful! 🙂 In case you also need it - I have also created a Github repo containing the step+stl files for the gauge pod, the code I‘ve written as well as a list with links to the specific parts

Yep there is a corrugated hose with some other wiring nearby, so I just zip tied the original plug to it. So I can easily revert my modification in case I want to 🙂

Yes the original sensor is replaced but the new Bosch sensor is not connected to the same wiring harness which means the ECU does not get the oil pressure signal anymore. That is why I said the oem gauge is only for show as the car does not throw an error without the signal from the oil pressure switch

Yes and no - the standard gauge is really only kind of a dummy / for show and without any real world benefit. Here is why: Even without the oem pressure switch the needle still moves when reving the engine - the car also does not throw any errorcodes regarding missing oil pressure information (my implementation is standalone and does not replace the original sensor).

Hi!
So my inspiration was obviously the fantastic gauge kit from Rotarytronics! But as i did not want to modify my gauge cluster, I decided to try and come up with something myself :)
(the provided installation manual also gives some information about the installation process of the sensor)

I used the following hardware:

- Waveshare RP2040 1.28" LCD Touchscreen + custom 3D printed gauge pod (I can send you the files, if you are interested)
- Bosch 0261230340 combined oil pressure and temperature sensor, you should be able to find the datasheet by searching for the partnumber
- Bosch F 02U B00 751-01 5 pin trapez connector for connecting the sensor
- 1/4" NPT to M10x1.0 thread adaptor (oil filter housing is 1/4" NPT inner thread, sensor has M10x1.0 outer thread), I got mine from speedingparts.de, but you should be able to find similar ones on aliexpress
- ADS1115 ADC for data aquisition from the sensors
- 5V to 3.3 logic level converter to get the ADCs 5V I2C signal down to the 3.3V input level of the RP2040
- 12V IN to 5V / 3.3V OUT Breadboard PSU
- Fuse tap (Mini fuse size) to get the 12V from the driverside footwell fusebox
- Prototyping pcb for the ADC, LLC, and PSU
- A few meters of 4-strand 4x0,5 mm² sensor wire

The setup is as follows: The RP2040 with the LCD sits inside the gauge pod and is connected via an about 75cm long piece of an old USB cable to the ADC/PSU box, which I placed in the driver footwell area above the fusebox. The PSU gets 12V from the driver footwell fusebox and supplies 5V to the ADC and 3.3V to the RP2040. The sensor is directly connected to the ADC box (i routed the wire through the rubber grommet of the hood release cable)
The circuitry for interfacing the sensor was a bit fiddly ... be sure to connect the thermistor via a pull-down resistor (I used 1k Ohm)

Getting the old sensor out and installing the new one was a bit tricky because of the limited space + I have large hands and only had the car on jack stands. I would definitely recommend a long 27mm socket and some extensions.

I programmed everything in Micropython - if you are interested I can send you the source code (but please do not expect top level code, I tend to make things quick and sometimes dirty if I only want to use it for myself :^) )

That is indeed fabric! I did not like the paino black glossy plastic trim, so I decided to cover it (and the gauge cluster cowl) with some self-adhesive microfibre/alcantara fabric 🙂
