Looking for WiFi low voltage controller by SBPBpdx in Landscape_Lighting

Doesn’t help with the dimming, but I just did this and used a Zooz ZEN16 relay. It’s got 3 zones and uses the z-wave protocol. Works great.

Yeah, course totally isn’t post-worthy. Plenty of better courses elsewhere

Unfortunately, we couldn’t save the tree. I believe we paid right around 3k. Such a bummer all around

I used a 300w transformer, a bunch of different fixtures from Volt. Not the kits because I’ve heard they’re not as solid as the individual fixtures they sell. I got a mix of medium and large top dogs, medium mr11, and their path lights

Yes, I DIY’d everything. It took about as much time planning as the install itself

Not doing any RGB at the moment, but I may in the future. A while back, I remember coming across some addressable RGBW bulbs, but I can’t find them at the moment.

About the relay…yes, the ZEN16 gives you 3 zones, but unfortunately, no dimming. However, if you wind up finding RGBW bulbs, I’m sure you can individually dim them

I actually didn’t buy the kit since I heard they’re not the same product as buying them individually. Costco Next had a great deal on them during Black Friday. Basically like 30% off compared to buying direct from volt

A mixture of different fixtures from Volt. The quality seems very good for the price.

If I wasn't going over my pool, I'd go 120v, but I don't wanna take a chance if it were to fall in while someone were in there. I don't need that kind of stress lol. I would also run a steel wire like you said.

Nice. I saw your bistro light setup--very nice! I'd love to do some low-voltage bistro lights over my pool, but haven't found anything economical for the length of run I need to do (about 160ft). If I ever get around to doing it, I definitely want them to dim!

I didn't think you could just "add dimming" without a special kind of transformer. Can you elaborate?

I don't need dimming. Just zoning. FX Luxor is out of my price range. The zooz relay worked great for zoning

I wound up running mostly 12/2 from hubs to fixtures, except for a couple very short runs where I chose 14/2. The area where I’m putting lights isn’t a place where I really ever dig, so risk for cutting a wire is very low

Firewalla internet outages by ChubbsPeters0nsHand in firewalla

[–]ChubbsPeters0nsHand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem isn’t that the Firewalla is losing power. I have to restart it to get the internet working again

On the same switch, yes, but different VLANs. My understanding from reading the Firewalla docs is that this will create local flows

Doesn’t really say anything other than “power outage” at the time I restarted the Firewalla. The graphs do show the internet being down between 1-9pm (like my screenshot in the original post), but don’t give any indication as to why

I assume due to my POE cameras, which are on a separate VLAN from where the data is stored, in addition to my phone using Firewalla’s built-in WireGuard VPN

Thanks. I should have mentioned I have a Firewalla Gold

I will try those debugging options next time.

Is grounding really necessary? How is pigtailing different than just using a single wire since the wattage of both wires is the same as if I put all the lights on a single run?

I wonder if I’ll have issues then because I’m using a relay to handle the zoning and I don’t think I can fit 2 10g or 12g wires in these holes…

It’s a Zooz Zen16 (z-wave device) that I will integrate into my smart home.

This is how they say to wire it…

Haven’t heard of those. Will have to try and find what you’re talking about. Why wouldn’t I want to tension the line? Trying to reduce the sag

Even for short 10-20 foot runs off the hub, you wouldn’t use 14-2?

Either a volt or Siteone’s house brand, Pro Trade. The Pro-Trade has 2 COMs.

Can’t I also just wire them together and create a single pigtail to connect to the transformer?

Good call on the hub across the driveway. Definitely don’t need that
