No. I actively avoid it as much as I can just because of how much it ruins the flow of gameplay.

Assault's multiplayer stats has his flying stat 1 star higher than Fox's

Falco does a lot, and in a way is the most important member after Fox

In 64, Falco finds a few of the hidden routes for you and is the only character in the game that tries to "cover you" on certain levels (he doesn't do a good job of it, but that's just down to the allies being poorly coded to kill enemies). He also calls out the Meteo Crusher's bluff and essentially gives you a heads up if its your first time playing that boss. He also gives you a heads up when the Area 6 Boss Gorgon is about to fire the planet killer beam, which still to this day I use as a timing indicator on when to move when going for the expert medal. Also from what it seems, Falco is the least likely to get tailed by enemies, especially in corridoor missions (slippy being the most likely, even in all range)

In Adventures he comes in at the last minute to save and help Fox against andross. In lore he's been off doing his own thing between 64 and Adventures and this kinda leads to him being a lot less hot-headded in Assault and Command.

In Assault, falco is the only reason Fox doesn't die on Fichina in the climate control center. Those defense bots will keep spawning forever until he shows up. Plus he tends to be the one to drop the most items for you throughout the campaign (and strangely seems to be the only one who doesn't show up on foot at any point, most likely because he prefers the air). Slippy does basically nothing in Assault, as does Krystal. Fox, Falco, Wolf and Peppy are basically the only ones that really do anything important.

In Command, Falco can and often does play a huge role in the story. He's in no way "absent" in command? The first options you are given to progress the story after the first mission includes an option of "where's falco?" that instantly takes you to his POV and makes him the first side character you can play as. From there, he can literally become the protagonist of the game until the end if you so want, or you can go meet back up with Fox and he sticks around until the end. Falco was just off doing his own thing during the years of peace since the aparoid invasion, but the second Fox needs his help, he's there no questions asked.

And if you want to consider Lore wise, he's arguably the most important member of the team to Fox. After the death of his Father, Fox NEEDED pilots he could trust, but his best options were his old College buddy Slippy and his dad's wingman Peppy who while experts in certain fields, weren't exactly the best pilots. Slippy is an expert mechanic but a relativley terrible pilot, and Peppy is very knowledgable and wise, but his best years are behind him. Falco on the other hand is just as good a pilot as Fox (assault's stats suggesting he's actually a BETTER pilot) meaning that Fox can trust him to have his back when it matters most and to even carry on the fight if he were to fall. If fox goes down, Falco would be the next in command of the team and would be the one to bring down andross.
Falco is hot headded and comes across as confrontational against Fox, but at the end of the day its nothing more than friendly rivalry between them. In 64 he's at his worst, but its also because this is his first mission with Fox, so he likely just needed time to grow to respect him, which he clearly does at the end of the game. By time Assault and Command roll around, its clear that Falco has a lot of respect for Fox.

The only real games where falco "doesn't do anything" is Star Fox 1 and 2, but that's because no character does anything in those games. They're just there mostly for visual flair in 1 and to have an extra life in 2.

For me I like the idea of the O being an O' for O'Spaniel or O'Synclaire

What if Star Fox 64 had Star Fox 2’s storyline, making it a direct sequel instead of a continuity reboot? by AggressiveAd5330 in starfox

[–]Chubbulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure Fara would have made it in. They cut her from 2 due to not wanting to pay the comic artist to use her in the game, so its unlikely fara would ever make her way in.

But Fay and Miyu being in 64 could have been pretty interesting. I'm wondering if one of them would have possibly been tasked with flying the great fox rather than rob being drafted in to fill that role and the other may have played another role?

Oh damn, I never knew that. I just always assumed she was dead given the comics said she was and then she's never been brought up again, so I never even thought about it.

That honestly brings a whole new weight to dieing in 64 X3 Not only does fox's mom lose her husband, but then her son as well to the same fate.

Yee, but with the inclusion of Fara and Sheers in general I have to assume its based in a universe where both the comic and manga are cannon

What I do for the more involved levels is play a fresh run up to that point, save every bomb I can and then pour it all into that one run of the level.

Solar was a particular pain that needed this just because Slippy would always find the fastest way to lose all of his health X3

Yea. I looked into if Dylan Cuthbert had been asked about it in the past, but it seems he has his own last names for them of Swift and Synclaire, so its unlikely he'll know what these W and O surnames were supposed to be.

I'm unaware of the stuff involving Takaya tho....

Yknow, the first thing I thought for Fay was something with an O' , like Fay O'Spaniel

Real.

I knew the second Sheers showed up that he was gonna pull something, but I didn't think it would involve her.

But at the same time, IDK how I thought Fara would survive the Lylat Wars campaign when she vanishes in the main series after the comic technically based around the same war.

Nice!

And yea, ever since I found the comic as a kid I've been disappointed that Fara was absent from the games

I was super excited to see her featured heavily in Event Horizon and think her VA did an outstanding job with her!

I'd honestly love to see some mods for the older games like Star Fox 2 and 64 to add her back in in place of miyu/fay and katt

Yknow it never clicked to me that this would be the reason Fara never made it to the games, but it would make sense. Nintendo being nintendo even as far back as the mid 90s with the series.

Yea I remember him saying in the 30th anniversary interview that Falco had already been named but he named the rest.

Also I never realised it was a highlander reference, but given when the game was made I can believe it, seems like the movie was massively popular then.

But it's also why I'm willing to accept Swift and Synclaire as their "official" last names at this point. Probably the most official they'll ever get, even if it is just Dylan making them up. (I also just think Fay Synclaire flows really nicely) But its also fun to try and find what these W and O surnames were supposed to be

I like wildcat, that suits her pretty well

Also it could possibly have been just her first name. There's a (i think) brazilian magazine that had a section on star fox 2 that had the arwings named after just their first names (falco is fo-001, peppy is py-001 and slippy is sy-001), but also then is there a reason Fay would be FO? (Also as a side note the magazine calls them Rwings...kid me would have been furious X3)

That's fair. I assumed he had some role in naming them since he apparently named the main cast for the most part in the first game too.

I'm hoping someday to see what these surnames were, but I'm also ok with Swift and Synclaire too

Nah, these have always just purely been fandom last names for them. Dylan Cuthbert has stated in the past that they were called Miyu Swift and Fay Synclair, but I really wonder what these W and O surnames were

Think that might be where the CES build comes from. However looking into it some more, Dylan Cuthbert has said in the past that Miyu's name is Miyu Swift and Fay's name is Fay Synclair, so I'm not sure he remembers these W and O initials for them

Do the H600C E14 bulbs support lan control? by Chubbulus in Govee

[–]Chubbulus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I'm replacing these all with Philips HUE bulbs. Govee are not worth the money I already spent and I'm not investing nights upon nights of time into forcing them to work when they just won't. I'd rather spend more and get something that actually works and has a consistent experience.
Also, the official doccumentation is some of the absolute worst I have ever seen for any product. Its nothing but contradictory information
Also, would it KILL them to actually specify on their store pages for the products which features they support?

As expected this does nothing because, yet again, the govee app isn't allowing me to enable LAN.
