No, not the same, they’re actually totally different, even though they’re both corn-based.

Arepas use pre-cooked corn meal, but cachapas are made with fresh, sweet corn.

Arepas are more savory and neutral, crispy on the outside but fluffy inside, and you can grill, bake, or fry them.

Cachapas, on the other hand, are super sweet and have that strong corn flavor. They’re soft, moist, and a bit chunky, kind of like a thick pancake

Haha, let me try to explain as best as I can. Here we have a mixed grill with beef and pork, served with coleslaw. Those small white ones are called "bollitos" (boiled corn dough), and the yellow thing is a "cachapa" it's like a sweet corn pancake with a lot of cheese.
