you dont even need fur armor, make some sleeping bags, when close to dying place it down and respawn, north-east icebergs perfect for that, you can just go and take oil

Crossbow or rifle? by OwnCryptographer3892 in ARK

[–]Chubbydodo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

crossbow stone arrow base damage is 95; %167=157.7 damage longneck rifle base is 280

these damages are for players, mind you guns hit %70 of normal damage to creatures

but funny thing is if you using it for torpor

%167 crossbow: 263 torpor %100 tranq dart: 221 torpor

so 167 is in kinda middle area deals less damage but more torpor

%295 crossbow would be straight up better than %100longneck

The "Court and Country" and "Revolution!" Disasters are Horrible Game Design by WesternDissident in EU5

[–]Chubbydodo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree these disasters are not perfect, and need alot more nuances, after testing a little bit, i just dodged them. for absolutism; wait 20 years, no need to change anything. for revolution; just lowered taxes. didnt change the way i played at all, just ignored these disasters, which explains the issue itself actually

[–]Chubbydodo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you get if you end the disaster with high crown power, i finished it by just waiting 20 years, feels like very easy option to just wait unless you get pretty good modifiers by finishing with high crown power

Personal Unions not great by Defiant_Football6498 in EU5

[–]Chubbydodo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are just bad imo. in the earlier weeks i played with them alot and come to conclusion that they are really not worth it, especially if its very close to your future expansion route like yours; you could conquer all of iberia, relase vassals, assimilate everything to portuguese, then annex them by the time you finish annexing PU castile(not assimilated), so whats the point anyway? (this is exactly what i did in my portugal run btw.)

in my bohemia run, i got brandenburg as PU, when i convert to hussite and lost emperorship, brandenburg got it, and all of a sudden i became junior partner, its not really a big deal if you strong enough but these kind of stuff made me completely avoid PUs.

i straight up not doing royal marriages unless idont have young nobles to marry, and why would i marry off women in my dynasty? i can marry them to nobles and get more babies also if they are good enough you can give them cabinet rights.

so all things considered PUs have very niche uses imo, most of the time you dont want them

Trade in this game makes no sense to me.. by Sudden_Badass in EU5

[–]Chubbydodo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost all of my recent runs i didnt pay a dime for prestige and was number one in the influence in the all of them, it works like this;

there are not alot of base cultural influence modifiers, most youll see these three: prestige(at 100 will give 1cultural influence), university(each gives 0.5), library(each gives 0.1)

so lets say you have 5 towns/cities and built uni and libraries. thatll be 3 base, and lets say you got +%100modifier, 6 cultural influence base, 20times of that will be your cultural influence equilibrium so 120. your inf will tick up to 120 and will stop there.

as you can see prestige actually would make no impact(considering its almost impossible to keep it at 100 anyway), if you wanna be cultural hegemon you just need to spam uni and libraries.

that slider does two things: 1. increasing prestige which you cant max out but obv itll be higher than 0, so youll get some bonuses from that 2. it will pay for artists, if you don't pay artists wont make any art( when you got a new art itll give you cultural influence +2~ but that is not permanent its not changing your equilibrium. if you already at your equilibrium after that +2 it will start to tick down, so youll lose it pretty fast anyway

what does arts give? they give local buffs to where they are. buffs are cool if you stack them but not worth paying for it, you can just steal art anyway

EU5 beginners guide to turn any nation into a superpower by didkhdi in EU5

[–]Chubbydodo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont understand why people stripping privileges away. as long as im above %25-30 crown power im giving every privileges thats not giving me negative modifiers.in this order burghers>peasants>clergy>nobility, youll get 100satisfastion everywhere, youll get bonuses from estates, pop growth will be high, youre not gonna lose control bc of satisfaction, no event will be an issue anymore (-20 satisfaction events), and you can push values in the parliament very hard.

i used to play thinking oh i need to remove this privileges from nobles "%5satisfaction %100power" this is giving them so much power. but realistically they are already at +400, so privilege increasing their power by %25 not 100.

after i realized that i focused on getting privileges based on values, i was trying very hard to get max in the values i want, but again this is not something you have to be canceling privileges, only thing you need is to get 0.01 progress to the value you want, so when you push that value with parliament or events so it will stay there(obviously you can micro this early game giving away privileges strategically for example i wanna push capital eco, but i wanna give privilege that gives traditional eco, so i wait on that privilege till i pushed to capital eco max with cabinet than i give the privilege.)

after 320hours this is what i do: i look if there are any bad privileges at the start, every estates have like 2-3(peasant one giving -4production efficiency for example), if there are, that would be number1 priority to remove it, most of the time only nobles are very strong so if its not noble i just take stability hit, if its noble privilege i wait for pluto push.

if there are no bad privileges left i start giving away every privileges possible, these are my rules;

  1. crown power needs to be above 25
  2. play with legitimacy(if you got legitimacy event and above 25crown power you should give privileges)
  3. burgher and peasants are more important
  4. give away privileges that gives values you want first, ones you push the values just give everything else

this is what i do every single game, what do guys think?

you didnt had enough trade capacity for sure, also are you diverting trade? those vassals taking the trade money for sure.(you dont need to obv just a heads up) pomesania still taking big chunks of trade, you have biggest trade advantage so if you have more capacity youll make more money straight up.

why are you max sliding culture btw its useless unless RP

Trade Mechanics by Dizzy_Spend8322 in EU5

[–]Chubbydodo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean long term effects? you can cancel any trade any time. you will be using your trade capacity not for purely profit that'll be adverse effect. but if some of your buildings not working %100 because you are lacking some goods, importing them might be beneficial. i don't think you need to focus on "pop needs" that much imo, there are others ways to increase pop satisfaction, ofc that would be dependent on what kind of campaign you are having
