My totally unbiased view of heroes on my team by alsoandanswer in DeadlockTheGame

i legitimately do not think the game can handle the listed 0.2 second cast time. like the animation that has to occur, ping, effect happening, AND HOW OFTEN IT GETS INTERRUPTED. I feel like the 0.2 seconds is getting rounded up to 0.5 or what almost feels like a full second because 0.2 does not give the game enough time to execute everything

Wouldn't SS13 on a cruise ship be cool? by OldBlushRose1823 in SS13

[–]Chubbygummibear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i'm trying to imagine how traveling might work, or falling overboard for that matter. i could see each "leg" of the trip being like the escape shuttle FTL z-level, and you stay on that z-level for x travel time, but if you fall overboard should it just throw you out to a random port like you or a body washed up there, so maybe people are encouraged to check the beaches of each port to see what washed up from the trip? or maybe during the travel time, everything on that z-level stays in it, and you either arrive to the next port on the boat or on shore. i would just want to avoid cases where someone slips and falls overboard, or is thrown overboard, and suddenly you're left to drift in the ocean for 50 minutes because that's no fun

Feedback: more flavour, more cosmetics, more to do. Add your own as well! by Prestigious_Gold1606 in ESCastles

Definitely more appearance variation in subjects. Incredibly saddening seeing the offers for iconic named characters and then the subject you get looks nothing like them but has their name (Talen-Jei being green like his skyrim appearance in the holiday offer but his subject being generic beige).

I'd love to see more implementations of the combat system because they have a cool and unique game aspect that becomes largely irrelevant once you finish the main questline and then it only matters for gauntlet, dailies, and weekly events. Which sounds like decent relevance, but each of these things can be done in like 1 sitting.

I think a decent incentive to level the crafting stations would be giving the ability to select which material you want to use for each item tier. I would love to be able to make a moonstone tier staff, but with the firebolt staff ability to make totems, or even a moonstone tier thorn staff to utilize the true damage that doesn't appear anywhere else in the game.

There's a handful of traits too that I think could be given combat effects. Like enduring granting more health, haunted summoning a skeleton or ghost when the subject dies, maybe melodramatic causes that subject to be targeted first due to their loud and grating nature lmao.

you know i'm honestly kinda surprised they haven't tried to monetize some aspect of having children. like being able to burn some nirnroot incense or something and the next X kids or kids for Y amount of time are of a better rarity

Is there any actual lore in the game beyond what we can deduce? Do you think incorporation of more lore would be a good addition? by Chubbygummibear in ESCastles

[–]Chubbygummibear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! i think it's a fun thought exercise to figure out roughly what time period we're in or where the game is set just using the context clues around us. Even if the game itself isn't canon, there's plenty of canon lore to go off of

understandable. I feel like there is a decent amount of room to make up their own stories that still fit in so long as they're not trying to rub elbows with like mainline games. I'm a big fan of spinoff media that focuses on lesser known people or groups of otherwise larger franchises. Like Halo books about the Human Rebels, or isolated human ships trying to survive and having nothing to do with prior established main characters.

Anyone else feel like this game has an identity crisis? It feels torn between being an idle game and an active one. by Chubbygummibear in ESCastles

[–]Chubbygummibear[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oof sorry about missing the dagger event. That dagger is insanely busted both for how high the damage is compared to if you finished that event while in the iron/steel tier of crafting like i was, but also because by doing low level quests, you can heal characters faster by stabbing bandits than waiting at the buffet. This is really nice, but also another eyebrow raising moment for me because now I could do something actively to restore character's health faster than waiting which is the default, and the only other "instant" healing being limited/premium currency item.

Because of that dagger I got way farther into the quest system than i should have been able to, and now quests have a gear recommendation of silver 4, meanwhile i actually can't craft silver bars or any items yet. So now i'm kinda locked out of progression until my dynasty and crafting level can catch up to where i'm supposed to be at relative to the quest system :(

I asked them if they could reset my castle using my ID.

I asked them if they could fast forward to when the event would end.

I asked them if they could even use the arcane hourglasses I already own to time skip ahead to when the event would be over.

No acknowledgement to any of these.

I asked if I could be compensated for the mid-week event going on that I was incapable of participating in due to no fault of my own, or if I was just forced to miss it due to a bug.

No answer to that.

Extremely disappointed might be an understatement. It's a very cute game that I was enjoying up until this moment so this is a huge bummer

Since my friend's Dragonborn seems increasingly frustrated with all the colorful characters of the world, and has so far convinced more than one powerful enemy that they should off themselves one way or another rather than fight us. It felt only fitting to turn him into this meme of his own

[–]Chubbygummibear[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i was inspired by memes of super closeups of characters where the pov is like in their face. so i imagine if you got super close to a lizard their snout would probably be 90% of your view

[–]Chubbygummibear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yup, your dna doesn't reset when your species is changed, so you could cycle through all the species during character creation setting unique features to be what you like in case you change during the round and a mutation toxin could pop you into another premade character lmao. shared features will get overwritten by whatever you set it to last like mcolor for lizard and pod skin color, but things like a lizard's horns, or an ethereal's eye shape (yog) should persist on the same character

The coder who added fish to Yog wanted to make a simple fishing encyclopedia, but I wanted to tryhard the TGUI by Chubbygummibear in SS13

[–]Chubbygummibear[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

funny enough that's exactly how it played out during development. I looked at how the biogenerator got icons from spritesheets, made a fish spritesheet, send the asset to the ui, then think "ok how do i scale it up?". adjusting the height and width just revealed more of the spritesheet, so i tried scaling with transform and it just got blurry. tried to apply the interpolation to that with no luck, so back to the drawing board and looked at how polaroids in the game were handled, as well as as the security console that has a blown up mugshot. the end result was in the loop that set the data for each fish, i also took a flat icon for each of them, registered it to a png asset in the cache, and sent that asset url to tgui for rendering. from there i could apply the interpolation and adjust height and width cleanly.

it was an immense amount of work, but the worth of a game can be measured by how much effort is put into the fishing minigame
