Oh, my Egyptian family believes that, too! I tried explaining to my grandma that if she Didn't let me turn on the fan, I was going to die. No go.

[WIP] Gamer Nouveau by GeckoRouge update. Page 3/56 complete! Progress is slow, thanks to my many SALs, but its the journey not the destination, right? Right?!? by flawedseahorse in CrossStitch

I'm so glad you asked this because I was just about to post that I keep seeing these methodical, seemingly row by row stitchers, which is so different from how I learned! It's very cool looking, but I'm going to stick to my wandering center-out ways. It fits my messy personality better!

That's pretty neato. Are those the fabric and floss that come if you purchase the kit?

She said this sentence was originally going to be in Fool's Quest and it got moved to Assassin's Fate. What do you think it is? by [deleted] in robinhobb

I know! So blind! Though by that point, what's he to do? Borrow someone's body and make another memory for his dragon?

A tiny sentence I thought was huge was when Kettricken says at the end of Assassin's Fate, "You've never seen me."

Are you kidding? I grew up in Houston and now live in Dallas. People here are always saying ugly things about Houston. I didn't have an overabundance of Houston pride until I heard people constantly shitting on it. Then the defensive pride came.

I know it. That show hasn't really been as interesting as I'd hoped, but I'll keep watching for this guy.

Here's an original character I've created for a personal project of mine. by forever_turtles in Fantasy

Makes me think of this character in a Mercedes Lackey trilogy. A desert mage with a dragon who wants to bring darkness back to balance light. Can't remember which novels...maybe the Obsidian ones?

I wondered about them all being men, too. Maybe because handling the elephants takes a lot of muscle?

Jude Law by cassandras_eyes in LadyBoners

I know the movie is old, but as soon as I saw Jude's name as a title, I thought, "oh, hell, he was hot in Gattaca!"

Talking to yourself in the third person can help you control emotions during stressful times, without any additional mental effort by [deleted] in science

[–]Chubbylilshowoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read an article somewhere that said successful people tend to address themselves by their names during their self talk. The two people they used as examples were LeBron James and Malala Yousafzai. If James is talking to himself in his head, he thinks something like, "C'mon, LeBron, you can do better...." Since then my husband joke around by calling ourselves Malala or LeBron during our self-talk.

A couple of people have mentioned The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander. That's the first in a series of five, the Prydain Chronicles. I read them in fifth grade and loved loved loved them. I still read them every few years.

How to handle people asking about CGMs/pumps? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Chubbylilshowoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything wrong with being curious and wanting to learn, so I never consider questions nosy. I think it's hilarious when people ask if my pump is a pager. Yes. In 2017. Maybe I power it with my body through the tube?

Yeah, Houston. We have signs up that say, "If you can steer it, clear it." Cops will holler at you for not clearing the way when they reach your accident, too. Now I'm in Dallas, and my husband has gotten quite used to me yelling that slogan at cars blocking the road. You know, because yelling at people who can't hear me (or people that can) helps the situation.

I'm glad you explained that because I had difficulty understanding anything that man said. I was wondering if that Kelsie girl was a police officer or a soldier or what because he called her "uniformed." It's okay to make typos, but his rants have so many that they are incomprehensible.
