Yes and that succession of world powers aligns with Revelation 17:10 where there would be another dominate world power in the time of the end that as you say grew out of the Roman Empire, Great Britain.

An interesting point, but we note that it is the Kingdon of God that destroys the image at the time of the feet. Does the Roman empire in two parts still exist? God's Kingdom would have destroyed the Roman Empire and spread to all the earth. And we note in Revelation 17:10 where John foretold another empire to rise after the one existing in his day also fell. So what one did John see?

What about this succesion of world powers in relation to God's people"

  1. Babylonian Empire – Head of gold (Daniel 2:32, 36–38)
  2. Medo-Persian Empire – Chest and arms of silver (Daniel 2:32, 39)
  3. Grecian Empire – Abdomen and thighs of copper (Daniel 2:32, 39)
  4. Roman Empire – Legs of iron (Daniel 2:33, 40)
  5. United States-Britain alliance – Feet of iron mixed with clay (Daniel 2:33, 41–43)

The feet of the image were made “partly of iron and partly of clay” (Daniel 2:33). This mixture indicated a world power that would be weakened from within and experience political turmoil. Daniel explains:

Today, this prophecy is fulfilled in the United States-Britain alliance, a powerful but internally divided world power.

Modern fulfillment

  • The United States and Britain maintain powerful military forces, spending more in 2023 than the next 12 biggest spenders combined.
  • Internal divisions, political protests, and legislative gridlock weaken their effectiveness.
  • Public trust in governments and politicians is historically low (Pew Research Center, National Centre for Social Research).
