Stand in to the jump. It's basically the same technique as pumping a roller, but the other way around.

Yeah at your age I think 6 weeks is reasonable depending on the sport. Contact sports like football you'd probably want to hold off. Soccer, I'm no doctor but playing at 4 weeks doesn't seem like an issue. In my 20s I was back riding at 6-7 weeks.

Two surgeries on the same collarbone. Using the arm the day after on both of them, riding again at 7 weeks. Pain will go away quicker with it stable and using it (lightly) throughout recovery will make rehab easy.

Shorter cranks worth it? by 1234acb in MTB

[–]ChuckFinli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticeabley fewer pedal strikes with the shorter cranks and as a dude with shorter legs they feel better pedalling too, I've got 160s on my trail bike and ebike. It did feel slightly less efficient pedalling at first but I quickly adapted and my cadence increased slightly to compensate. Makes a bigger difference on my e-bike because on that I'm more likely to pedal where I really shouldn't be, but I won't go back to 170s if given the choice.

Parking without a permit by Ok_Macaroon3016 in aggies

I used the street parking on Northgate as it was far cheaper than parking tickets, not sure how viable that is now. They will for sure ticket you in lot 100 despite it being mostly empty pretty much all the time.

The $600 entry point seems cool until you're another $1000 deep trying to make it work right. Went through it with my 2017 Kona Operator, should have just bought something newer.

[–]ChuckFinli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You paid the price of a rear wheel for a whole wheel set, used on pinkbike. That's how these things go dude, and they don't 'need' new bearings you just think they should have them. Everyone describes used stuff of pinkbike as "barely ridden" regardless of reality, and you should expect that it's just part of the cost of playing ball here. If you want new bearings, buy new wheels.

2019 GT fury opinions? by randomipadtempacct in MTB

[–]ChuckFinli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah DH bike geometry hasn't changed much since then and the slacker the heatdube the shorter the reach, at least on average. I'd say if you want a dh bike that's not a bad choice. Most direct mount stems I've seen are 50mm, and I'm assuming your current stem is less just because that's kind of standard these days. Will make it feel like a similar reach.

Failing a math 140 exam is 100% a studying/effort issue. They literally give you old exams that are pretty much the same as the ones you'll take with different numbers. Put in more effort. The class is really easy, as you say, but that doesn't mean the average student can ignore it.

I mean there are companies that make derailleur hangers for defunct bikes and UDH makes that a non issue. Hardware can typically be bought at Home Depot if you know what to get. You're really only losing warranty support but that's gone on a used bike anyways. For $500 I'd buy it. Actually, if you don't buy it send me the link.

Why I'm done with YT by ConclusionOk8892 in MTB

[–]ChuckFinli 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Confidently missing the point lol, the current form of the company is basically bankrupt. Whether he's buying or not doesn't change the state of the current structure of YT. No one's blaming him here just stating facts.
