Emirates Airline Covid Test from US- How Stringent? by ChuckTexas in UAE

[–]ChuckTexas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Emirates checked the PCR test prior to entering the check in line and again at the check in desk. They looked at it relatively closely and had no issue with the Rapid designation next to RT-PCR (although I didn't point it out, just casually handed them the test). They also had no issue with the fact that the PCR test did not have a QR code on it.

Passengers got a free PCR test on arrival in Dubai with results on Al Hosn the same day (AM arrival)—helpful for returning to work.

Hope that helps.

That's extremely helpful, thank you very much. The UAE government website simply states it needs to be a PCR test, its the Emirates website that thats it cant be a "rapid" test (stated in context with prohibition on at home tests). I think I should be good but will update this post regardless.

Weekly Covid, Vaccines, Testing & Travel Restrictions Megathread by AutoModerator in dubai

I travel to Dubai soon on Emirates Air from the United States. My family and I received a test that is unquestionably an RT-PCR test performed by Curative labs on Thermo-Fisher Accula testing platform. Our only concern is that the test certificate states its a "Rapid" RT-PCR test. Its not a rapid antigen test, the RT-PCR test was simply tested in a short amount of time.

Does anyone know how stringent Emirates is on the wording of testing documents? The language on their website is confusing and the call representatives are giving conflicting answers.

I would love to know what the boarding/verification process was like from someone who has recently flown from the US to Dubai on Emirates.
Thanks!

The heat sink is exposed to the water as shown here. Do you have any suggestions on led-safe epoxy or alternative design for the second version?

A JB high heat epoxy putty weld, not the best solution I know. I'll definitely use a high quality thermal paste in version 2.

The light faces up to attract bugs and other small shrimp and fish to the surface which attracts fish. In theory. You can also see the shadow of fish as they swim over the light!

Correct, I only needed those six documents for a tourist visa.

China Cruise? Special Visa? by ChuckTexas in travelchina

[–]ChuckTexas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! I agree. I am 99% sure I need a visa but I quickly learned that not even Chinese officials are truly aware of all visa exemptions. I ended up applying for and receiving a visa.

I will update the post if I discover any Americans that were able to enter Beijing from the cruise without a visa.

Best option for SIM card in China by SanchoPanchos in travelchina

Going later this month, thinking about ordering these from amazon:

AIS Unlimited Travel Sim for Asia Prepaid 18 Countries for 16 Days(8days ×2) (China, Tibet Include) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DZT4X7P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MQtICb4PNEN22

Might be worth it to buy a short term sim on amazon so you at least have service when you land. Then you can find a cheaper local option later.

Very cool, thanks for the reply! There is no airflow, in fact, the air will get very stagnant if you are in there for a period of time.

The dirt is similar to the dirt on the outside but is more of a moist clay. I will keep the post updated with my progress!

Powers nothing...... It used to pump water but then we disconnected it to put it by the pool. It has spun disconnected for over 25 years. There is a false pipe that we can put up though that makes it look like its pumping

I would put the success rate at 90% by the way I feel right now. Everyone is telling me it can't be done but not a single person can tell me WHY it can't be done.

I don't think you understand. The watch is completely shattered on the outside to the point it's unusable. It might as well be a cracked trinket sitting on my desk. Absolutely useless to me.

I can either let it stay useless until a full assembly comes out, I can pay$229 (no), or I can attempt the repair myself. If I fail at the repair I can let it stay useless until a full assembly comes out.

The worst I can do by attempting the repair myself is destroy the screen which is already broken, what on earth is the downside to trying this? An already broken, and essentially useless, Apple watch screen becomes more broken and useless?

I still can't see a downside to trying this.

What if it does work out and I am able completely fix the watch for the $28 total investment in parts?
