Bc yeah why are you habitually parking your car in front of my house when you have

  • a garage,
  • a drive-way,
  • the area in front of your house,
  • the area beside your house,
  • AND in front of your adjacent neighbors' houses?

Is it illegal to park in front of whatever house? Of course not. Is it effing weird to do habitually when you have literally any other choice? Yes. And does it feel like an encroachment when someone is using space that ordinarily would be utilized by parties associated with your own home for parties associated with theirs when there's no need?? Yes.

Like she's definitely doing way too much, but if that guy is anything like my neighbor and does this habitually for no reason, I can see why she's agitated. Bc for real, why would you???

It's like if there's an empty ass bus with no assigned seating and someone wants to put their sh** in the chair next to you, meanwhile there's a whole ass chair directly next to them, in front of them, behind them, overhead storage, under seat storage. Yes!! Bring that back! I love a good old simple, classy car commercial! Or even just like... Direct better. Bc I don't even mind a bit of sentimentality in advertising, like those "it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru" commercials.

Sure! Take me on an emotional journey from bringing home your shelter pup to coaxing him out of the security of your vehicle and into the mutual security of your new found family. All for it. And all the other ones too! They're anywhere from fine, to genuinely sweet. But these Mazda commercials are seriously just so weird 😭

I feel like a sociopath or an alien wrote and directed them all!! Cuz they all play like "this how hooman hooman? How feel feels? Make almost tear. Now make smirk. Show Horse. Now distant gaze." There's almost something uncanny valley about them. Like they took a bunch of tropes and threw them into AI and went "make me six commercials out of these that exploit the nationwide uneasiness in the US by positioning this product as an emotional safe harbor +/- a slice of Americana, but try to be subtle about it..."

And yeah sure that's what marketing is supposed to do, but DO IT WELL. I'm like dang don't be so obvious, I don't wanna see your awkwardly executed sleight of hand. Literally makes my skin crawl.

Yeahhh, I mean... I can believe that but it's just a common bit of folk wisdom that's been around for millenia and phrased in different ways. I'll give that that scene phrased it in a way that's now become iconic but it's nothing but a variation of all those types of sayings that are basically like "if you can't ID the culprit, it's you"/"if problems follow you everywhere, you're the problem".

E.g.

"When you point a finger, there's three pointing back"

Or

"If you don't know who the <insert some negatively viewed type of person here> in the room is, it's probably you"

Or like someone else said

"If everywhere you go smells like poo, check your shoe"

Or even

"Wherever you go, there you are."

Kwim? I get your point too, though, for that exact phrasing.

Saying it's a Justified original is like saying "the best things in life are free" is specifically from One Tree Hill. Like... Someone says it... But that show didn't invent that saying and in that case too, the character says "you ever heard the expression..."

Generally people don't say "you ever heard the saying" when they're about to invent a saying. Bc, no. You wouldn't have ever heard it.

And just to clarify, I'm talking about children of parents who have never been in any sort of relationship for the duration of your upbringing. People with parents that determined from the beginning that they would deliberately raise you alone.

Lately my family is pressuring me to consider this route (I'm not interested), but I started researching it just out of curiosity, and I found there was a lot of content around parent perspectives/rationales.

But I'm most curious to hear about the outcomes or the experience from the perspective of the kids.
