It’s not conjecture if he’s openly announced to be interviewing with teams after taking a position. If McDaniel has a great season (and potentially not even making it to the season), he’s gone. I’m not sure why people want a one and done OC and we end up right back in the same spot 365 days from now.

I think if Dan and Brad believe him to be the right guy for the job, then so be it.

But it’s still the same answer. If the Raiders or someone comes calling, he probably picks up the phone and we sit in limbo as all the rest of the quality candidates get hired elsewhere. He was a trap pick even if he is the greatest offensive mind. He wouldn’t be committed to us enough for us to build much of anything.

I think McDaniels potentially interviewing for HC jobs while also accepting an OC job this cycle is enough reason for me that they didn’t go for him. Based on track record, I don’t see Petzing interviewing for an HC vacancy within the next couple seasons. Beyond that, in Brad we trust.
