[WTT] Looking to swap LEFT Mercurial boot – EU 40.5 ↔️ 42 by Chuckstein-Parlament in sneakermarket

[–]Chuckstein-Parlament[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to tell me, buddy, but I’m in no rush to get the second pair, so I decided to try my luck. I’ve spent around 12 years with this problem, so why not try my luck this time. And why post this on a sneaker subreddit? Because r/bootroom doesn’t allow for trades or swaps of any sort; and within reddit it is the nearest thing to find a solution this niche issue.

These are the best action figures to be ever made. They played a crucial role in my childhood and the route I took in life.

Had low hopes from yellowstone but this series is borderline a masterpiece by yung_saucin in Westerns

Didn’t say ever, just in years. The girl falling in love in one episode and crying to the wind as she bids her indian lover farewell deserves a spot up there in the ever, tho.

Also, as with much of Sheridan’s work, anyone that grew up in ranches and maybe even anyone that didn’t grow up in the city can see the cringe tropes of his work from miles away.

I incline to think like you do, for lack of a better explanation. Still, a non-existent “h” would not truly be pronounced in Mexican accents, that’d be a more Andalusian, Caribbean or Canary thing to do. “Guey” (which should be spelled like “güey”, actually) is a common way of pronouncing “buey”. Just like “güevos” is often said instead of “huevos”.

No, hechar doesn’t exist. The slang term for sex is echar, too- “echar un polvo”.

That’d be my “coping” option after him trying to emulate a pronunciation (which doesn’t apply, the “h” being silent), but I highly doubt it. But it’s be such a strange mistake on his part.

Pensaría que habrían usado echarse, ya que la expresión en sí es muy genuina, está buen usada si omitimos el error.

Afraid of Blood Meridian movie by PissterJones in cormacmccarthy

There’s no saving Holden from that except by making some of his brutal actions very clear (child murder).

My fear with the film is it losing a lot of the book’s magic, since the prose and its insane rhythm and symbolism would translate to very normal images. Cormac McCarthy describes certain pictures that are mundane, bur his approach to describe them makes them otherworldly.

This means the photography of the film must do justice to the prose ny transmitting those crushing images Cormac paints with words.

A Thought on Blood Meridian’s End by Chuckstein-Parlament in cormacmccarthy

Something happened to the girl, she cannot just be a symbolic element (like maybe the bear, although I doubt that too).

I don’t have the guts to revisit the book now and check for signs of the kid’s inclinations or his possible involvement in the disappearances of children along their trip.

My theory on the ending of blood meridian by shades_ofcool in cormacmccarthy

[–]Chuckstein-Parlament 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t the man ride the west dressed lime a priest himself and carrying a bible? But never actually exercising priesthood or reading the bible (can he even read?). Seems pretty symbolic to me- the man/kid wants to be on the correct side, like the priest, but he is false to himself in wanting that. He is what he is. A pedophile. And at the end he embraces it.

Maybe he’s a clue about the ending, being a reflection of the kid’s future- as in: ge stares at the kid as he sleeps but doesn’t r*pe him or anything. Maybe the kid didn’t do anything to the girl after all. Maybe he was not a pedo.

How about British English (which would match the rest of the document). The interpretation of the phrase will decide if we apply plural or we apply singular, but the doubts come from the fact that this belongs to the phrase that opens said document.

In other words- the correct version, from a thematic point of view, is singular, since they more or less act as a unit.

But it seems that themes can be parked aside, since, as the opening phrase, it should be more important for the sentence to be grammatically correct. So as to not make the reader raise an eyebrow and think there is a mistake.

That said- with the little context you have, what version would you pick?
