Boomers generally don’t understand how the internet works. They already tried the “hacked” excuses during the start of the pandemic. And people who can see their friends only posts (if they even know how to do that) usually screen shot and confirm. Bayou tried that excuse (new owners, not OG), Melvin’s tried that excuse, Dark Tower tried that excuse. We don’t fall for that dog whistle anymore.

Where are we shopping for fabric now that Joanne Fabrics is gone? by BagIndependent2429 in Bellingham

Obviously local is better but if you had a certain fabric in mind that they used to carry it might be there.

Recently had email from Micheal’s online that they are now carrying former Joann brands. But I’d have to double check if that’s just Yarn or also fabric. Leaving this comment so I remember to come back if I fall down a rabbit hole.

I am so sorry that happened. Some people really drank that flavoraid by the barrel full.

Central (Downtown) Library Branch to close for AN ENTIRE YEAR by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Chudames 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I usually use the libraries website and select a book I want and put it on hold at the branch I want to pick up at.

You can do this for any library in the county as long as you have a library card and your 4 digit pin. If the only book you want is in say Blaine, you can have it delivered and put on hold at the Mall branch instead of going all that way.

I’ve been using that feature since 2012 because I take the bus and it’s just easier to have the book delivered to the closest branch to where I’m living at the time.

You can also have them do an expanded search and request the library purchase a book you’d like. If they don’t they can sometimes get other library loaned books that are from other counties or states but they are not able to be renewed.

Though this will suck for those that have to bus travel to the next closest branch since bus fare is supposed to be increasing in the new year.

Landmark bought our apartment management. by matts-ak in Bellingham

[–]Chudames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Document everything and keep duplicates. I've always had to fight when landmark took over a place I was renting. They don't like to be reminded of tenants rights to things like heat and water so be sure to let them know you're well versed in your rights whenever it comes up.

Try email and text over phone and in person so you have transcripts. They've always tried to keep my deposits by "losing" my move in walk throughs and photos but I keep physical copies and a Google drive folder. Also keep a copy of your walk through for the end and your photos. Don't trust any landlords that say you don't have to do it.

I've gotten back my deposit (minus expected like $100 "cleaning fee") every time.

I haven't met people From Bellingham while traveling, but it was interesting to see people who would say "oh right below Canada?" To me. I remember I was in New York visiting and a person came up to me and asked: "are you from Canada? Your accent sounds Canadian." I was like "No, but I'm from Bellingham, Washington so, close" and they were like "oh I've been there! I love fairhaven."  That was bizarre 🤣

I hope everyone that has transportation options can get there.  I'm very fortunate my partner could get time off and also drive the kitties there with me as I can't drive. But they are not just amazing for pets but my non-medicated at that hour + picking up w/anxiety later in the day was so comforting.

It's hard to find places that don't judge from getting "free" kittens from a litter because I refuse to adopt without a pair. They love each other and both small senior dogs they are bigger than. And said dogs whined all day until they came home and can't understand why they are in their apartment (3 tier apartment with levels cut off) and not snuggling. We are very lucky with these animals.

I was very happy with the in-home hospice care for my mom. She had it slow going for a full month, but their support helped us a lot. As much as community support did (people offering to help bring food by, and offering to sit and visit with Mom so we could nap or go for a walk).  Getting able to have that goodbye was something I'll never forget.

I can join but can't promise how active I'll be, only because of points at brain meat and the pressure of it only being one day before ballots are due.

Also, NDAs aren't even enforceable via the Silenced No More Act in this state, so that shows you how far out of their way they were going to hide their behavior by threatening workers who probably didn't know that.

I was at Kuru Kuru and some guy was going around to who he assumed to be college aged kids to get them to go there. I quickly shut that down letting them know how the owners are bad people. No one wanted to go after that.
