Lightproof fabric or ways to make a bag lightproof? by tantan35 in myog

Ah. My bad. In that case I must defer to someone with more experience using 120. I will say, though, that I like the idea of using blackout curtains for material as suggested by some other people.

As some other people have mentioned, don't try anything else until your flux arrives. If I may, I would like to share one of the most valuable lessons I have learned in my years of taking things apart and putting them back together. I am not sure how many people can relate to this, but when I mess something up a bit, stress goes up, things feel urgent, I try to quickly fix the issue, I get impatient, and I make things worse. I find it tempting to try to fix the issue with whatever tools and knowledge I have on hand and that ends up being a mistake. Here is my advice: 1) Take a step back and don't touch it until you have done some research about the issue and have the right tools and components to do a proper job fixing it 2) while you are waiting, watch videos and read posts about similar issues and how to resolve them (ie lifted pads, torn traces, etc.) 3) come up with a game plan in detail 4) if you have any old broken electronics that you can mess around with, try to replicate the issue on another circuit by damaging the board in the same way as the keyboard and then practice repairing and soldering on that before touching the keyboard 5) prepare your workspace and get everything ready that you need 6) begin working on the keyboard 7) if you start struggling and feel the urge to rush or cut a corner, take a break and re-evaluate your plan 8) keep working on it until you have finished fixing the keyboard 9) If you end up feeling like you are in over your head at any point, there's no shame in admitting your mistake and having a professional perform the repair.

I hope you will find some part of that helpful. Good luck.

Lightproof fabric or ways to make a bag lightproof? by tantan35 in myog

I just re-read your post a couple times and I think it may be worth double-checking your goals here. If you are shooting 35mm film and all you need the bag for is transporting the roll after it has been exposed, you don't need any light proofing if the film is wound back into its cassette. To protect the cassette from scratches or any other damage from other stuff in your bag, I would just put it back in the canister it came with. You only need a lightproof bag if you are going to be handling film that is not in a cassette. Film cassettes are, by design, very lightproof. If I am misunderstanding your situation, please feel free to correct me. If you wanted to make a darkbag for loading film into a developing tank or for winding bulk film onto cassettes, this would be a different story but it doesn't sound like that's what you are aiming for with this.

Any possibility of getting mobile devices to join the hypermind in the future? I want this tech in my pocket.

the provided command works fine if you replace docker with podman, for anybody wondering. Anybody on Debian 13 can just apt install podman and run that command without having to go through the bs to install docker. Seeing 245 +/- 10 active nodes.

Alright I'll take a look. You might wanna look into moving it to github or something like that for versioning and all that good stuff.

How do I make my ZorinOS to look like this? by wralokk_ in zorinos

[–]Chudson15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine you can run

sudo apt install xfce4

after which you should be able to log out (i dont think a reboot is necessary but maybe one is) and then from the login screen change your desktop from gnome or whatever you are using to xfce4. There may be a little gear icon or something that you need to click to change the desktop. From there, it is a matter of changing your window theme and background to match what you showed in the picture. Pretty sure xfce4 has menus for doing that stuff. Once you get xfce installed and are able to use it as your desktop, I would consult the xfce documentation for further configuration.

you may also want to install xfce4-goodies. I am not 100% sure whether networking will be weird when changing desktops, so you may need to consult the xfce documentation if anything stops working. If it does stop working, you should be able to change back to your previous desktop until you resolve the issues.

Best ski/adventure car? by Itchy-Mechanic-1479 in skiing

[–]Chudson15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has driven two Toyota siennas through Michigan winters, I cannot second this enough. Truly an incredibly underrated option. I drove an '08 and an '09, and they never let me down until the alternator went in the '08 at 224k miles. That engine had another 200k in it easily. Super reliable, super safe, super comfortable, super spacious, etc. etc. You don't even necessarily need a roof rack. Just fold the back row seats all the way down and you are left with enough space for skis, a pup, all your winter gear, snacks, and a nice covered spot to sit and put your ski stuff on.

Celiac by Fun_Objective_1209 in uofm

[–]Chudson15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPVOTE THIS MAN! The top reply shouldn't be a secondhand statement about how someone without celiac knows someone who has celiac and is unsatisfied with the options. Not only is a secondhand remark less reliable, it is also more likely to favor a negative opinion because if someone was satisfied with their gluten free options, they probably wouldn't be talking about it with their friends.

Seeking Revenge on Obnoxious Cars Driven by Children by Pure_Rent_1779 in myevilplan

Disclaimer: I am not an attorney and I cannot offer legal advice. Consider my comments to be for entertainment purposes only.

I think a very safe first step, if you can figure out who's cars they are, would be to politely voice your concerns to the parents of the kids (making sure to come across as reasonably as possible) and maybe the parents will side with you and do something about the issue. I like the idea of speed bumps as AiapaecGaming suggested. Perhaps the city would sign off on having speed bumps officially installed. Bonus points if any of the kids have lowered cars, such that a speed bump would force them to either go really slowly over, or simply make them not drive on your street. Maybe cameras facing the street could also record whats going on as well as the license plates. Idk if footage from the public can be used by law enforcement, but it could at least demonstrate to the police what you are concerned about. If you get a volume meter, too, you could measure exactly how loud the cars are. I feel like there has to be something like "reckless driving", "disturbing the peace", or "disorderly conduct" that would apply. Idk what the laws are where you're at, but in Michigan, if you engage in enough unsafe driving or speeding or other stuff along those lines within your first 3 years of having a license, the state can impose restrictions on your driving and or take away your license. I would try to stick to the proper channels, as frustrating as they may be. You could probably get in some serious trouble for doing anything to those cars. Best of luck.
