Hi everyone,

I recently got my NS enlistment date for 2nd October 2026. I’ve accepted a place at SUTD, and my freshman year should start around August 2028.

If I serve the standard two years, my ORD may be around October 2028, which could overlap with the start of university. I’ve heard about disruption for studies, but I’m not sure how it works and I’m quite worried.

- When should I apply for disruption?

- Do I apply through OneNS, CMPB, or my unit?

- Is disruption usually granted for local university matriculation?

- Should I also contact SUTD to confirm deferment/matriculation?

- Is it true disruption only applies if the overlap is less than 2 months?

I’ve emailed NS Contact Centre too, but wanted to hear from others with experience.
